The reasons i like this game are simple.

Yes the scenery is beautiful, everything looks nice.  The game engine is the unreal engine and that makes me feel cozy because i like it much more than the korean standard which is the cry engine.

The most important part is the combat.  Oh how i love the combat.

Its not quake style FPS where keeping the corss hairs on an irraticly moving target while rapidly and earraticly moving myself is the only skill involved.

I thought the animations locking you in place would be a drag, turns out such a funcion makes movement your dodge, but doesnt mean i have to have a seziure with my mouse to dodge.  Its more strategy knowing to recognize someone in an animation then reacting appropriately.  As it turns out anything that does serious damage requires a decent animation.  This makes movement a stratigic manuver ranther than quake style which is playing the odds...the odds are the more you move the more the other guy misses ect.

Combat is fun enough for mobs, as they all have a variety of skills to look out for and learn, granted its too easy to quest hub clear and be over leveled and have no challange, i like to do the orange storyline quests untill they are too hard then do the yellow filler quests as needed.  This provides me with,as often is the case, a story line quest where i get pummeld, followed by some very difficult red/orange mob filler quests that are just as hard but not over the top.

I could best describe this game as " a fantastic combat system in an stunning visual setting dropped inside a mediocre themepark game with most themepark attractions missing"  The combat makes up for its faults.  They just need to add those attractions asap.  They bought themselves time with progression rate that isnt crazy but isnt like some games where a casual will hit max level in a month.

Play this game for its combat if your sick of tab target but dont want a lame quake style FPS aim'er game.  This combat system allows for calculated moves. Scenery is amazing in some maps as well.

Sort of like "I realized that ..."

I would have hoped you were better than that.

Did it on my mystic :) Was supa hard and my group wiped several times but we did it :) I dont remember when it was the last time i was so concetrated and nervous during pve, i needed i big rest after that fight, but then i said to me "That was fun :D". To make things clear im a pvp player so i rarely have fun during pve, mostly find it boring, but Tera is different.

Did you do it on normal? Coz hard will make you want to break your key board lol. So many damn summon running arounding putting the confuse on you and all the dead body to move around makes the confuse even worse -.- I have yet to finish Ebon Tower hard, only got to 6%. I find balder much more doable XD

Balder hardmode? You must mean normal because hardmode is just ridiculous as of right now.

Also has anyone done Kelsaik normal yet? And is the hardmode even possible without the master glyphs or +12 enchants?

No we talking about ebon tower and ya i don't think anyone beaten balder hard yet. My guild gotten to the final boss but thats yet. Also I don't think Kelsaik is possible coz we don't have master glyph and so far only Fane hardmode has been done with is pretty much close to fully +9 for laner tank. DPS need +8 or higher weapon and some enchanted gear. Fane hard is mostly dps race, first boss in Fane HM the pillar don't respawn so you want to kill it fast but most Koreans just eat that AOE because if you got well enough gear its not a DPS issue any more. Crab boss is not DPS race but postion, there are 4 pillar on each side so its impossible to dodge unless you stand in the spike so you use the crab boss to block it for you. Lancer boss i heard stay the same only difference is fire ball in fire room move twice as fast and portal summon twice as fast. Final boss is huge dps race, 10 mins because it goes in to super enrage mode which it just 1 shoots everyone XD

O as for balder hard i think my guild made it to 35% ish on final boss? Not sure i think they trigger the timer but couldn't dps it down fast enough.

The first 2 boss is pretty easy, the golem boss is hard because the summon well pretty much almost pointless to kill. It has somuch hp by the time you kill it the next one spawns in 3s. Also final boss well its about i think 2-3x more summon than normal so ya XD Its so hard to move across the dead body when your confused -.- and your trying to get aggro back...

O i should have rephrased that, it picked up for me around lvl 40. I found the story after 40 interesting doesn't mean it really does for most people. And i won't say its good story but at least it has a point unlike lvl 1-40 where its kinda like wtf am I doing. Still if your playing Tera for story, kinda the wrong reason.

I still stand by if you don't like the game by lvl 20 after you fight a BAM and do first dungeon you won't like the game no matter how the story picks up.

I can't stand people like you, this thread is about positives, we didn't ask for people to just come in here and be negative for absolutely no reason, there's a million anti-TERA threads you can go hang out in.

The worst part is TERA has some things no other games have so just saying it brings nothing is being a troll, we know you don't like it, even though all your posts are in this board.

For me the game was interesting at the starter levels just becuase of the different combat. I realized that we would get more skills as we progressed.

the game changes with the introduction of BAMS and the first level in the early 20's. Some have remarked that the later story is more engaging than the first part.

Hope that clears that up.

For me the largest thing was that, with my naga mouse, I NEVER EVER HAVE TO LOOK AT THE KEYBOARD AT ALL!

It's amazing. usually in an mmo I have so many tool bars that eventually I find myself looking at the keyboard or doing that one thing where I have to click something. But in this game I can be completely immersed and never have to take my face away from the screen.

Which makes the fights more exciting,. especially pvp.

I also love the art design though I don't love all of the art design.

Similarly, I like that I am not having to look at toolbars at all. That I have to look at the animations of the enemy. and my position. That is very immersive to me. At least with Zerker and Warrior, I don't have tons of cooldowns to worry about, at least not more than I can remember. I find I'm often playing zoomed way in, where in most games I've usually been zoomed way out looking at the next objective (harvesting node, next mob, etc.)

A little minor thing I noticed last night. I was running around outside Lumbertown on an alt and noticed when the character runs they kick up dirt behind them. It's a minor thing, but it's a nice touch, similar to when you fly through trees on the pegasus and a bunch of leaves become scattered in the air.

Sometimes it's the minor things that make a nice impact on your gaming experience.

Great thread, I'm surprised how much I learned from it, so many little things I overlooked or didn't properly understand.

I also realized this yesterday when perusing through my guild's crafting guide that the compass/radar in TERA has an intelligent design behind it.

"Another argument for paying close, close attention to your compass is that mobs that are not agro'd are red , solid dots, and mobs that are about to swing an attack at you are blinking dots. The distinction is important, because sometimes a mob notices you, and reacts, backs up, jumps arround, scrapes hooves.. but still has not agro'd, do not be startled by movements , that can get you agro'd, be startled by blinking dots, or rather, be ready to escape them"

I had often seen mobs reacting to me, but never realized why they sometimes took up chase, other times I was able to slip away without conflict, or realized the compass would help me tell the difference.

I know, it's a small touch, probably done by some other game, and perhaps better, but still just one example long with everyone else's of the little things that make this game fun and different.

After spending the last week healing I'm surprised more people have not commented in how the game's "true action combat" applies just the same to the healing role. ***************** The way it is managed is like players in your team are the "mobs", and you have to move around as much as any ranged DPS both to heal and to stay alive. It's very organic and felt like I was in the game and part of the environment and action. There was NO healthbar whack-a-mole here! It was just as fun and immersive as paying any ranged DPS! **************** After so many years of avoiding the healing role because AI always had one eye on healthbars and the environment / encounter out of the corner of my other eye. And god forbid if the powers that be caught you not using decursive this was simply ... I loved it. ***************** Frankly whether people like don't like or even hate the game for whatever reasons, I would like for the game to do at least well enough to foster further competition in future titles in at least these 2 aspects: *************** Future MMOs should take at least some inspiration in how combat and healing is handled. And future MMOs should take a risk and make the most gorgeous worlds to let their players get lost into. This whole thing with lowest common denominator graphics so the greatest number of players can run your game with a toaster should give more attention to creating a game world amazing and engrossing enough to make players want to upgrade their computers. ********* Ah. Another thing that I have't seen much mention of: aside from the mandatory outliers, it's pretty much universally agreed upon that EME has amazing customer service. This is another aspect future MMOs should also take a page of when publishing a new title.

Without a doubt, healing in Tera is the most fun I ever had on a healer in ANY MMO....EVER!.

I actually move around more, and have more screen action on my priest than my archer. Found myself literally on the edge of my seat a few times during dungeons runs on my priest than any other MMO I have ever played, and he's not even 60 yet!

Yeah that really is a crazy step forward in MMO gaming.  Having fun with "action" healing.  God I hated staring at health bars on one side of the screen all the time as a healer in other games.
