Yeah this looks like it's for me. I love the animations as well as most of the art design though I really hope i can turn off those voiceovers as they are a bit too cheezy for my taste.
@wormywyrm: It looks like regular in-game combat with interesting camera angles. You aren't likely to see these dramatic camera angles in game while you're playing (duh) but the rest should be expected.
That's pretty awesome. Also looks like the graphics won't be breaking any computers anytime soon, yet they still look awesome. Hopefully this lives up to the current hype.
I don't care for the lighting effects that trail after swords when they're swung and so forth. I find that crap to be really cheesey and completely unnescessary, but its also a video game staple for some damn odd reason.
I would agree with Sovrath , the voice over are a bit cheezy. As pointed by CujoSWAoA the slicing effects might break the fun for some so an option to disable them would be nice.
Add optional fatalities over this system and it would even feel better and more savage than AoC.
I love the fact that warriors have so many options, in WoW its either sword and sheild or two handed weapon.
In this they are duel wielding, using bows that wipe out an enitre group, throwing weapons, using sheilds as a flam shield.
I also agree with the above comments, this game is starting to get huge, and only time will show how massive the fanbase gets, but im sure it will be big.
The monsters and people move pretty realistically! So many different combat things you can do too, this is only 5! With the graphics and the content this game is just amazing! (Don't forget the fact you only have to pay for the game once)
I don't know about this. Not really sure if this is gonna be just a single player online game. I mean, i don't see any group play in any of the video's, this one included. It also looks like the mobs go down pretty easy as well, so you probably will be able to solo level and never need to group up. The graphics as well, kinda looks like the run of the mill, nothing spectacular. I also read that there is a personal story system in place and it will be instanced. So that tends to make me believe that the world will be very small and linear.
Musicmann, nice try but this is GW2. Building on what they have learned from GW. SW:TOR isn't SW:TOR2 or SWG2 for that matter and they are building on what they know best.... single player linear RPGs.
These teasers made me buy gw1 to pass the time, i'm not regretting this choice :p
Can't wait for this, though I'm probably still going to be an elementalist who knows what the other classes will be...
Nice to see how each will have a unique mechanic.
@ the wow poster above, warriors did have a bunch of weapon choices, but it didn't change your skills based on which specific weapon combination you used (it used to before they removed mace stun rng :p)
Arenanet for life, gw1 has hooked me with it's awesome story and complex skill choices, I'm hoping gw2 delivers the same depth :)
musicmann: they wont show group play for a while...its months left to release. Can you relax..and its going to be fully open persistent world except the dungeons, personal stories and houses. I doubt it will be that easy to kill a mob, they must be higher level or they want us to take on more enemies to make us feel heroic and epic.
Now i can say - Forget about non-tartgetting! i love non-targetting, but if this game delivers our expectations, im certainly going to buy this game and play the warrior class!
Every article i read about this game is better than the previous, its what we call NEWS in mmorpg, and its B2P, and we wont have to wait for years to release like the other games since A.net knows how to do marketing and management! 5/5 for GW2 if all their ideas in development come true!
I just had a thought. All the podcasts and shows the big AAA titles like EA/ Mythic had to hype their game and this video reveal beats it all when it comes to positive results. Interesting to see how Arenanet is marketing this game. Comparatively low budget but fantastic results.
After the fancy CGI mini-movies and gimmicks of other game pre-release hype factories, it's amazing how ArenaNet can light a fire under its potential playerbase simply by throwing down a pure no-B.S. gameplay video. That, folks, is called Doing It Right(TM). I haven't been this excited about a game in years. So many WoW-clones have tumbled off the assembly line lately, it's nice to finally see someone willing to take a bold step forward with their game design. I'm stoked!
Well, It looks fine, but I don´t understand why you guys do write home about this trailer? I see a standard warrior class and enemies with only 1 hitpoint.
This looks amazing. Gosh. I'm going to have to upgrade my computer AGAIN I imagine. The gfx looks absolutely awe-inspiring. I've got to remember to set back some income tax return money next year....maybe start a GW2/TSW savings account. heh
@girlgeek No you probably won't actyually have to upgrade. Arenanet has said many times that they are optimising this to run on mid range pc's. They seriously optimise their code so that you get more from less so to speak. You can play Guild Wars on dial up FFS!!!
Minimum Specs for Guild Wars 1 up to Eye of the North:
Windows XP/2000/ME/98/Vista
Intel Pentium III 1 GHz or equivalent
512 MB RAM
DVD-ROM Drive
3 GB Available HDD Space
ATI Radeon 8500 or NVIDIA GeForce 3 Series Video Card with 64 MB of VRAM
16-bit Sound Card
Internet connection
Keyboard and mouse
DirectX 8
I would stay tuned for Anet to say something more on min specs though. It would be safe to say if you bought your pc in the last 2 years its probably gonna run GW2 no sweat. It just won't be ZOMG pretty!!
Nice to a see a game that applies a practical use to shields, other than just adding more defense. The part where they ducked behind it to dodge the firebreath gets me excited.
The animations and sound effects are awsome. I do believe the smack talking ( though entertaining ) will get old within the first hour or so of play. I wonder if there will be alot of animated story line FMVs, like GW1 had. I like a good story to go along with great gameplay.
Well, we'll see how dynamic the combat is, if the hits / miss are actually linked with ur weapons pixels hitting or not the mobs, good, if it's just pretty animations added to "TAB" targeting then, it's pretty, ok, but doesn't bring anything new.
Will see how the quests n content will go. And i hope the voice over will be modified a lil, cuz it sounds quite dull atm (ain't as fun as BFBC2's).
Anyhow, this game's probably the only hope for the fantasy MMORPG genre (unless TERA can deliver somethin despites its Korean roots), so let's keep the fingers crossed, but not there yet to jump in the fanboi bandwagon.
Anyone who plays or has ever played GW know that this is not a BS, it will be like this, even better.
After I have played about 20 different p2p mmos, I still say that GW and Anet are the best dev / mmo in the world when u concider ALL of the mmo aspects!
once again I am definately impressed. So far everything that I have seen for this game surpasses my expectations.
Wed Jun 09 2010 12:06PM ReportWell ive found what class i want to play... holy shit
Wed Jun 09 2010 12:12PM ReportHave to agree with above comment. I just really hope there is more than just another fantasy MMO in there somewhere. *Fingers crossed*.
Wed Jun 09 2010 12:13PM ReportLove the meaty sound effects aswell :D
Wed Jun 09 2010 12:13PM ReportWow!
Wed Jun 09 2010 12:14PM ReportYeah this looks like it's for me. I love the animations as well as most of the art design though I really hope i can turn off those voiceovers as they are a bit too cheezy for my taste.
Wed Jun 09 2010 12:16PM Reportlooks cool
Wed Jun 09 2010 12:18PM ReportVery nice to see the shield blocks the fire breath graphically as well.
Wed Jun 09 2010 12:27PM ReportLooks awesome!
Wed Jun 09 2010 12:27PM ReportCool, but I seriously doubt combat will be like that, those videos are pretty damn set up... :p
Wed Jun 09 2010 12:31PM Report@Auzy: I concur.
@wormywyrm: It looks like regular in-game combat with interesting camera angles. You aren't likely to see these dramatic camera angles in game while you're playing (duh) but the rest should be expected.
Wed Jun 09 2010 12:46PM ReportThat's pretty awesome. Also looks like the graphics won't be breaking any computers anytime soon, yet they still look awesome. Hopefully this lives up to the current hype.
Wed Jun 09 2010 12:51PM ReportI don't care for the lighting effects that trail after swords when they're swung and so forth. I find that crap to be really cheesey and completely unnescessary, but its also a video game staple for some damn odd reason.
Otherwise? Looks like a fun game.
Wed Jun 09 2010 1:00PM ReportOk - I hate bows, but that longbow/fire thing is just amazing. The shield effect was very kewl too.
The other thing that really shines is how many options are available for weapons and combos with the off hand options.
Wed Jun 09 2010 1:11PM ReportFor the first time, i think i may try being a Warrior.
Amazing is all i can say! Anet is the best.
Wed Jun 09 2010 1:40PM ReportOh geez, its been awhile since ive been impressed by an MMO, GW2 is really turning it on!
Wed Jun 09 2010 1:45PM Reportdefinitely has peaked my interest in Guild Wars 2 even more.
Wed Jun 09 2010 2:00PM ReportThis trailer shows how MMO should be done! AWESOME!
Wed Jun 09 2010 2:10PM ReportStylish graphics combined with class A annimations.... who needs ultra high polygon counts.
Wed Jun 09 2010 2:50PM ReportI drooled!
I would agree with Sovrath , the voice over are a bit cheezy. As pointed by CujoSWAoA the slicing effects might break the fun for some so an option to disable them would be nice.
Add optional fatalities over this system and it would even feel better and more savage than AoC.
Wed Jun 09 2010 2:54PM Reporthot damn of coolness.... That horned Beastman looking race is awesome and crushing stuff and damn man...
Wed Jun 09 2010 2:56PM Report=)))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))
Wed Jun 09 2010 3:00PM ReportKABOOM ?!?
Wed Jun 09 2010 3:19PM ReportWell.. I've only ever played tanks in MMO's.. generally I go for the non magical kind...
Earlier I said that if this game delivers you can slap an arena net sticker on my forehead and label me a fanboi..
Well, now all I have to say is... to hell with the sticker, let's make that a freakin tattoo!!!!!
Pardon me while I attempt to sleep until GW2 release date to pass time quicker..
Wed Jun 09 2010 3:22PM ReportIm with Nytakito:D
This game is building a huge fanbase right now
The gfx and animations and skills are really cool!
Tattoo me baby!
Wed Jun 09 2010 3:31PM ReportWhere can I get one of those Tattoos !!
Drool,
Wed Jun 09 2010 3:59PM ReportI love the fact that warriors have so many options, in WoW its either sword and sheild or two handed weapon.

Wed Jun 09 2010 4:25PM Reporti just peed my pants a little with excitment.
Wed Jun 09 2010 5:23PM ReportThe monsters and people move pretty realistically! So many different combat things you can do too, this is only 5! With the graphics and the content this game is just amazing! (Don't forget the fact you only have to pay for the game once)
Wed Jun 09 2010 5:32PM Reportwhat i like most is that it still feels like Guild Wars... more news please.. can't get enough >_<
Wed Jun 09 2010 5:32PM ReportThe combat voices are so cheesy lmao
Wed Jun 09 2010 5:43PM ReportArnet is the one. I got Guildwars 2 on my mind wow!
Wed Jun 09 2010 5:47PM ReportCrap, now I really need to get to Gamescon in Germany....
Wed Jun 09 2010 6:04PM Reportwhats The Old Republic again?>???
Wed Jun 09 2010 6:12PM ReportI love that they kept the distinct GW look.
I wish they'd show us using evironmental objects in combat, like a warrior throwing a rook.
too cool for words!
Wed Jun 09 2010 7:05PM ReportBioware should take some notes from these guys on how to put together a nice class trailer.
Game is definitely looking good.
Wed Jun 09 2010 7:06PM ReportI don't know about this. Not really sure if this is gonna be just a single player online game. So that tends to make me believe that the world will be very small and linear.
Wed Jun 09 2010 7:13PM ReportWell holy @#%, That vid was impressive. Im lookin forward to seeing what they have done with the other classes
Wed Jun 09 2010 7:44PM Reportdefinetly less...''girly'' ( not to use g@y)... than Aion's voices :D
Wed Jun 09 2010 8:32PM ReportThe graphics is damn nice! ... and Warriors always rule! :D
Wed Jun 09 2010 8:54PM ReportMusicmann, nice try but this is GW2. Building on what they have learned from GW. SW:TOR isn't SW:TOR2 or SWG2 for that matter and they are building on what they know best.... single player linear RPGs.
Wed Jun 09 2010 9:12PM Reporti loved looking at the beautiful environments esp the swamp area
i just wished they showed off all the races per skill, would loved to see an asura do Stomp
Wed Jun 09 2010 9:22PM ReportThese teasers made me buy gw1 to pass the time, i'm not regretting this choice :p
Can't wait for this, though I'm probably still going to be an elementalist who knows what the other classes will be...

Wed Jun 09 2010 11:13PM ReportSweet! Really looks to be something!
Wed Jun 09 2010 11:44PM ReportCan't wait to see/hear more about this game.
Wed Jun 09 2010 11:46PM Reportmusicmann: they wont show group play for a while...its months left to release. I doubt it will be that easy to kill a mob, they must be higher level or they want us to take on more enemies to make us feel heroic and epic.
Thu Jun 10 2010 5:28AM Reportand by the way musicmann GW2 is made so you can solo to max level, your not forced to group.
Thu Jun 10 2010 5:31AM ReportLooks real cool. I just hope that wasn't an end level warrior showing off his skills against newb mobs. The fights were bit too fast IMO.
Thu Jun 10 2010 8:02AM ReportTo fast??? it looked to slow to me,slower than gw1.
Thu Jun 10 2010 8:05AM Report0.0... Whoa... More and more interested with every video they release
Warrior looks epic enough to be one of my alternate characters...
I'm still going to play an assassin or some variation of it.
Assassin is always my first and main character in any game :P
Thu Jun 10 2010 8:09AM ReportNow i can say - Forget about non-tartgetting! i love non-targetting, but if this game delivers our expectations, im certainly going to buy this game and play the warrior class!

Thu Jun 10 2010 9:11AM ReportAwesome!
Thu Jun 10 2010 9:38AM ReportWOW!!!! Yep AreaNet is getting more money from me. They know how to drain my wallet and always produce something I want to buy.
Thu Jun 10 2010 9:51AM ReportLooks like I'll be playing a warrior alot more often in GW2.
Thu Jun 10 2010 10:13AM ReportI just had a thought. Or did I miss something?
Thu Jun 10 2010 1:52PM ReportI'm a 5 yr vet of GW1 and still, I find myself enjoying the game. GW2 will be the same I'm sure. Can't w8!!
Thu Jun 10 2010 2:12PM Reportomg omg omg omg omg omg omg i r excited!!!
Thu Jun 10 2010 3:04PM ReportHerodes: Why ruin the good for us,say such negative things on woW videos...not on GW2 videos and those enemies is low level and the player is higher.
Thu Jun 10 2010 4:07PM ReportGuild Wars was my first f2p love and also where I happened to fall in love with someone, and this.. holy shit, is it ever a dream come true!
Thu Jun 10 2010 5:27PM ReportThis looks amazing. Gosh. I'm going to have to upgrade my computer AGAIN I imagine. The gfx looks absolutely awe-inspiring. I've got to remember to set back some income tax return money next year....maybe start a GW2/TSW savings account. heh

Fri Jun 11 2010 12:23AM ReportGood voice-overs can really make a game more enjoyable at times, i hope those we've heard in this video are not the end product...
Fri Jun 11 2010 4:08AM Report@garrett horned beastman = Charr :)
The animations and sound effects are awsome. I do believe the smack talking ( though entertaining ) will get old within the first hour or so of play. I wonder if there will be alot of animated story line FMVs, like GW1 had. I like a good story to go along with great gameplay.
Fri Jun 11 2010 5:15AM ReportNice graphics, shame about the silly asian MMO trails that accompany the weapon swings and charges.
Fri Jun 11 2010 8:37AM ReportWell, we'll see how dynamic the combat is, if the hits / miss are actually linked with ur weapons pixels hitting or not the mobs, good, if it's just pretty animations added to "TAB" targeting then, it's pretty, ok, but doesn't bring anything new.

Mon Jun 14 2010 1:33AM Reportfirst time ive looked at this game. do the toons really drop a punchline each time they fight? thats pretty cheesy imo
Wed Jun 23 2010 11:29AM Reportfirst class i ever made in prophecies! I cant wait to play GW2
Mon Jul 05 2010 10:21PM ReportAnyone who plays or has ever played GW know that this is not a BS, it will be like this, even better.

Fri Jul 16 2010 8:17AM ReportAww they f-ed up GW2..with stun... Stun requires no skill to use...great..GW2 is out of the question, so much for being a 4 year fan of GW.
Wed Aug 04 2010 3:53PM ReportLet's make it look purtee and get them to buy it. Only then will they see that these are mocked up and doctored videos. By then it will be too late.
C'mon guys these are tweaked videos and you know it. Sure the graphics are nice but no way in hell is this game gonna play as depicted in the videos.
