  • Beta Streaming Client Ready to Test

    ArenaNet has a blog post on the Guild Wars 2 site that announces the beta version of the new streaming client. The idea is to get players into the game faster both on the initial game download and after significant patches. Players wanting to give the beta client a try simply need to add -StreamingClient to the end of the command line on the game's shortcut.

  • The Flexibility of the New Defiance System

    The Guild Wars 2 site has been updated with a new post that shows off one of the members of the bestiary to come in the Heart of Thorns expansion, the Wyvern. Attached to the article revealing the Wyvern is the news that the Defiance System will be something wholly new when the expansion arrives.

  • New Camera System Coming March 10th

    In response to player requests, ArenaNet has announced that a brand new camera system is coming into Guild Wars 2 on March 10th. Included in the new feature is the much-requested first person view, a field of view slider to widen the visible playing field, a position slider to place the camera in any given player's "sweet spot", and a height camera that will focus on an opponent's head regardless of size.

    PCGamer has an extensive preview of the forthcoming Guild Wars 2 "Stronghold" PvP mode that will arrive with the Heart of Thorns expansion. In Stronghold, teams are given a fortress, each with a lord nestled deep within. Teams have two objectives: To protect the Stronghold and Lord; and to invade and kill the opposing team's Lord.

Even though not everyone could make it to PAX, Twitch allowed tens of thousands of players to tune and and soak up the excitement, and boy did we soak it all up. ArenaNet's flagship has seen a host of Living World updates, gameplay and feature additions, and balance tweaks, but the promise of a canonical expansion has been elusive. Just last month, I wrote about some alternatives to GW2's Living World, with an expansion being the obvious choice to drive the post-launch game forward and create a new revenue stream.
