Beta environment is setup to suit dev's primary testing goals, anything else is secondary.

Sure it has bugs and such, but im able to login. other stuff is NDA. all i can say is, stuff work alot better than currently my GW2 :) Lucky you, I have been in the Firefall beta for a while and its had a massive amount of problems to the point where it was pretty much unplayable for a while, they are getting things fixed over time but thats to be expected because that's what a BETA is for, if only more people could understand that instead of thinking the GW2 beta is a finished demo.

I think the disatisfaction you see with some folks is not because they had a bad beta experience. I think a lot of it, is because they paid a pretty hefty sum of money to have the experience, and could not even play it. I have noticed most of the people who successfully played the game say they had a great time. Well, imagine spending the whole weekend with CTDs and login errors. He came here to vent some frustrations, not to say the game sucked, but to maybe vent a little because he spent at least $80 to have this experience. Anet felt their product was ready to the point of charging people full price for a game that ended up having a rough go of a beta for many people...it was a marketing screw up more than anything. I am sure this is far from fatal for them, the game will still sell, but folks who did spend money to not be able to play are going to be let down, you know, if they can't play.

But, regardless of whether he got that access or not, it is definitely not in Anet's best interest to have charged any money at all (creates expectations) and then have a negative beta. Anet needs to be careful, because marketing fiascos (which is really what this is imo) are what hurts as much as anything. I can mostly agree with that. Althoguh I rail against the idea that anyone "paid" for a beta experience. I paid for a game I wholeheartedly intended to buy anyway, and got beta access as a perk for buying early. Nothing more. If you spent 50+ dollars on a game you didn't know whether you wanted or not just to test drive it to see if you did, knowing there was a possibility you might not....I've little sympathy. Not saying people ahve no right to complain, cause they do. Just don't look at it as buying a beta. You bought a game and got a beta with it.

To be fair when you get emails asking you to pre purchase the game for playign in next beta event..it is a lot more than just a perk. So yes they are charging the players for beta as well as the actual game.

If these problems never occurred, and it happened on Launch I would be extremely pissed. There is a reason why there isn't a Release date and there is no statement on how many BWE there is Life is a Maze, so make sure you bring your GPS incase you get lost in it.

With respect, cause I actually think you're one of the smarter posters I've seen this morning...That's only true if the person playing is dumb enough to see it that way. It's a carrot. A marketing ploy. It says "Please buy our game sight unseen, cause we'll give you an extra shiny". I just cannot fathom someone spending that much money on a product they haven't yet played (good lord, especially for the DDE or CE!) ONLY because they were getting beta access.
