Originally posted by Shadanwolf Considering PvP in GW2 is always sidekicked up to max level, and PvE is based on where you are, not what level you are, good luck having "more fun", "faster". Originally posted by ariboersma I don't really follow leaks, so I wouldn't know, any of these leaks could be something that's gone two days later or completely different, especially when there's no release date set and they're testing that very segment of the game. Not going to argue...not going to debate...not going to quibble over semantics. Just not going to accept it. Fortunately we don't know exactly wnat we're talking about yet...though all I keep hearing like the OP, makes me look for alternatives...or walk away from the genre. |

Originally posted by Ikonic You don't have the gear that true 80's have, but they'll never be able to one-shot you ala WoW or overpower you like in WAR, you'll still be a challenge to them so long as your skills in dodging and skill use are up to par. The poster I responded to assumes that he or she will be able to blaze through everything and thus have more fun. To begin with, it's an opinion that reaching goals quicker is "more fun". Secondly, if "True 80's" (their actual level can be seen near their names) were that much more powerful, they would all stick together and make WvW pointless for lower levels. no GW2 won't kill WoW, but it's time to move on and quit worrying about those people still playing it. - eyelolled |

Originally posted by iller That's an excellent way of putting it. In WvW, 80's and "TRUE" 80's will still have a generally even footing. If you consider getting to level 80 10% faster so you may have the most miniscule of gear advantages over someone else "P2W", there's no real reasoning with your opinion. Grasping straws is apparently a better hobby than playing MMOs. no GW2 won't kill WoW, but it's time to move on and quit worrying about those people still playing it. - eyelolled |

The fact is, the GW2 cash shop has pay2win elements (RvRvR boosts) as well as annoying elements (mystic keys, lots of gold grinds: repair, influence, squad leader ability, etc). It is possible to attempt to ignore this but then you will be gimped in RvRvR and you will be grinding gold a lot (again, for inluence, repair, squad leader ability, possibly mystic keys, etc). I'd like to remind all claiming this this isn't pay2win that, prior to GW2 implementing this type of cash shop, pretty much everybody considered the Korean MMOs pay2win despite the fact most do not have cash shop exclusive "swords of pwnage." Building grind into the game mechanics and forcing you to either grind or pay cash is the new F2P trend. Of course Anet is taking this to a whole new level by actually charging you $60 for it. Guess what. In Gw1, the cheapest XP scrolls gave 125%-175% bonus. Lightbringer gave 300% In DiabloII, you could get CHARMS that gave 25% magicfind bonuses.
The bonus consummables in Gw2 are a joke compared to other RPG's |

Originally posted by Shadanwolf Again, negligible. They can be purchased for in-game gold just like anything else in the CS, and they do NOT give significant advantages. If all 80's are essentially equal - which can be seen in GW2 beta footage - you won't lose because someone had a 10% crafting buff, you'll lose because you're not as good at playing your class as they are. It sounds cliche, but it's true. No gear you can make is going to make you that much stronger in WvW that you'll be hacking mofos down left and right with impunity. You're just proving my point that you don't understand the game. no GW2 won't kill WoW, but it's time to move on and quit worrying about those people still playing it. - eyelolled |

Gotta apologize, as I kinda missed the point in your first post, no sleep the last few days busy, busy, busy, but yeah I agree with that too, even though it may have seemed I did before, I was talking about something else, more or less injecting other posts from this thread into that. lol. Still not a single valid response with a definitive answer on why this isnt Pay 2 win. Just 12 pages of opinions and fanboy rants but nothing concrete and factual.
I'm still waiting.... |
