Originally posted by FearTHeFro I would think if we're playing a game that is not designed for designated healers but yet we still designate healers, we would be playing the game wrong in a sense? I think if there is colaboration as a team and people pair up and designate a few heals here and there to simply help out the over-all initiative then thats fine, but to to say 'that guy go main heal' would be going by design. Also I hope they don't make it so that one class can heal better than others, that would be a set-up to have people designate main healers.

The answer to the question is yes, there wil be healers. I wouldn't let anyone try to tell you otherwise, the skills are in the game, they do make a difference. They won't be the normal healers most mmo's are used to , but they will be healers. Anyone who thinks otherwise is completely ignoring the very obvious skills Guardians, Elems, and Eng's get. Like Creslin said ... I see them played as Moba Supports characters ... where they do far more than simply heal, but they are still the healers in the groups.

Originally posted by Redemp Nobody is ignorant except possibly YOU. Nobody ever said they wont have healing skills, as a matter of fact the elementalist skills 3 to 5 of water are all healing skills. what people have said is, the amount of healing you could receive from those classes are not enough to sustain you for any period of time and given their CD it makes it almost impossibily. Finally, when people talk healer they usually mean someone who plays wack a mole with the hp bar. In guild wars 2, it wont be possibily at all to be such a player, I can give you passive heals but I cannot play wack a mole with the hp bar, it just isn't possible or highly unlikely. The best healing skill in the game comes in the form of self heals. If you don't believe me, at level 80 certain classes have 25k hp, an elementalist skill on a 45 sec CD heal for about 1000 hp, if you are getting pounded by a boss that wont keep you up at all. |

Originally posted by silvermember Where exactly did I call people ignorant? Yeah .... I didn't. Healer typically means ... someone that heals others. I already conceded that the healers won't play typical to normal Mmo', what exactly is your point? I trust you're not going to argue that there are indeed healers in Guild Wars 2 , that they won't make a difference in a PvE or PvP encounter? There are healers in Gw2, they will be useful , they will do more than heal. This whole issue is Anet's fault for stating they don't have a trinity, yet including classes with specific skills establishing they do in fact have a trinity. The trinity is a very different beast than most Mmo's are used to , but it in essence is still there. |

As stated for at least a year, thre will be players who are better at support. If all your character is doing is healing, your team is going to lack in other areas (such as reviving, boons, condition removal, cursing). Your team will also loose some of your damage edge and possibly some control.
When they say no healer, it means, yes you can build a great heal heavy character, but if that's the only thing you plan on doing in a combat you're going to be more a detriment to the team. |
