Your criteria isn't exactly fool proof, and seems a tad obsessive.

How can you tell if a character is a bot?

Edit: That guy didn't answer you in 2 minutes and you call him a bot? Your first whisper is from 14:59 and your last is from 15:00. Wow. I sometimes get whispers which I just ignore. But if someone's spamming me like you I will just ignore you :D

Lovely how you guys ignore the older posts in this thread. I didn't waste any time on this because this bot has been there for over 3 weeks now, botting 24 hours a day.

What do you want as proof? A youtube vid of me stalking this guy? One screenshot an hour of him randomly killing zombies in Orr?

Go ahead demand it. I can back up all of my claims.

Pnozen is only an example of my point here, just one of many bots.

The usual ban wave for bots like him has been way overdue and I want to know why Anet stopped banning them.

Yes they probably were a bot - its very simple to see in GW2. I used to report loads of bots but it rarely made a difference as many were still in the same place weeks later.

ANet could have stopped bots from ever appearing with a few systems (ie roaming boss that can't be soloed so you have to run away or more intelligent and adaptive AI) but they simply don't care enough.

In fact I bet they make a huge amount of money from banned botters having to continually buy new keys.

When I'm in combat I tend to not even see chat... more often than not I'm on TS and not even paying attention to the chat stuff. But, that's WvW and not resource farming in PvE, so take it with a grain of salt. But chat alone isn't enough. I'm not saying there aren't bots, I've seen my share. They tend to ban in waves, grabbing boatloads at once.

@donald

Sometimes there is this necro zombie spawning near the statue of melandru with all the wood. Its life drain ability is so strong that bots with their normal routine of attacks can't bring it down and die over and over again.

@sandvich

Yes I know just saying hello isn't enough and can easily be missed. I only do that when I see the same character running around malchor's leap killing random zombies for weeks and that 24 hours a day.

Having said so, I noticed that Pnozen and Micry weren't online today. Maybe the ban wave has finally hit?

I can't look around Orr right now as I lost my gaming mouse and gw2 just isn't the same without keybindings.

No they don't ban bots, I see them all the time in certain places in pve!

They also do not ban cheats, I see this all the time in wvw and pvp!

Well just another day of the same routine as usual. Pnozen and Saliki botting nonstop with their necro zoos - but this time I noticed a new necro and whispered to him.

This one was funny - semi afk botters always rage like crazy when you catch them. Well half a year ago it was funnier since they would actually get banned.

Well this guy took some minutes to notice that I had whispered to him and I loved his answers.

Yeah now I'm curious - how will he justify a report for verbal abuse against me?

Simple:

Well if I can't get him banned for botting then reporting him for encouraging people to make false reports against me will do the trick.

Dude.

1.  As anet has repeatedly said, they ban in waves.  This can vary in timing based on a number of things.

2.  I admire your dedication for botting.  But you don't need to go beyond reporting it.  They will look into it from there.

3.  Your last post is bad.  You accuse the guy of botting to which he gets upset and calls you an idiot because he is farming, not botting.  Then you report him for verbal abuse.  You are way off base.  You should have apologized that you both accused and reported him incorrectly.  You are the one in the wrong there.

lastly, keep reporting, but do it with discretion.

I have been a GM for another game for over 6 years and banned thousands of bots in my days.

Since it was mentioned that Pnozen answered I will use her as example because I call plain bullshit here.

Do you want more screenshots of me jumping in their faces with the chat bubbles up?

Do you want screenshots of me whispering to them?

Do you want a larger timeframe? Like 1 attempt to talk to them an hour?

Demand what you want these bots are running 24 hours a day doing nothing but farming zombies in Orr and it's no problem for me to find them again.

This would make me want to completely ignore you if I was that person.

1. That's what my very first post says. I am used to the waves but the waves have stopped.

Look back at the earlier posts and see that I said Pnozen etc. have been botting for 3 weeks already. Now yet another month later they are still there.

2. That's what I did the first year and it worked - now it doesn't work anymore.

3. Just because someone whispers back a few minutes later exclaiming that they aren't botting doesn't mean they aren't.

5-10% of all botters do this semi afk botting style where they alt tab to keep an eye on their progress.

When he insults me and tells me he will encourage people to make false reports against me then I will only feel confirmed that people with this cheater mentality need to be removed from the game.

I was discreet about it for a year but anet changed their methods so I changed mine to raising awareness of the situation.

Yeah ignore the part where I mentioned this bot has been running around 24/7 for weeks now so I didn't bother testing him properly anymore.

I only took these screenshots quickly as answer to someone claiming that Pnozen answered them, which is complete bullshit.

More of Pnozen - as said I am only taking her as role model here, since she is one of those obvious bots that bot 24/7.

Since you guys don't care about a "hi" - after all Pnozen could just be a really shy player focusing on farming, let's try another approach.

Pnozen running into this extremely strong Necromancer Veteran I mentioned before.

And dies ... so unexpected

A quick respawn and she will give it another try

And... lost again

A true fighter never gives up

So where is Anet's ban wave that bots like her have been around for 2 months now?

When you stand around Sough of Despond Waypoint in Frostgorge you will see a lot of teleport bots.

They will appear a few inches in front of the npc merchant Taught by Whales - then teleport right to him, sell their goods and vanish into thin air again just to reappear some minutes later.

All of these teleport bots are warriors with full signet build (typical for bots):

Stars Loo, Gyrock, Oo Bb, Supersnow Man, Usvip, Karmalol, Adrenaline Rash, Gigh Ever, Mr Intor, The Iron Herald, Assassni

When you rightclick them to report them you will see that they are using account names like ghvgs,  cgvipand and similar. So these are actually really RMT and Anet isn't doing anything about it.

Oh yeah it's probably pointless to even mention it but Pnozen and the other bots from page 1 are still there.

When you do that they just tell you to use the ingame feature so that's what I am doing - rightclick>report>botting

And nothing happens.

PS: The forum doesn't even have a section for reports anymore afaik.

You could still ask around there if the report function isn't working.

I've noticed an increase in gold seller whispers.

Trying to keep my server free from cheating assholes is never a waste of time.

And that link doesn't help. Unless reporting players counts as "In-game Issue" and in that case, after months of reporting without results, my best guess is that they will forward reports directly to the helpful trash bin.

"waste of time" meaning venting here. Continuing on here is a waste as we cant do anything about it here on this site..

The reality is, is that bots have been used in MMOs since I started playing my first one when WoW released and probably were used in other mmos prior. They are not going away.  The only thing you can do is use the tools in game, in official sites and the like to report it.

"in-game issue" on that link is the only other way of reporting it outside of game. Good luck. Go have fun.

I have been using the >tools< since day one and although I felt that 2-3 weeks for a reaction are somewhat long I accepted it.

Now it has been months and the report button doesn't do anything anymore.

And that is the very reason why I am here ranting. Anet has stopped giving support and I want people to be aware of it.

I haven't seen the infamous Pnozen for 5 days now which makes me slightly optimistic.

I discovered a new type of bot today - a ranger purely relying on the pet. He would never engage in combat to avoid taking damage. Needless to say it didn't quite work out and he got downed cause his pet was busy fighting one zombie while another was clubbering the ranger.

And no he was not afk but I won't bother posting screenshots cause I'm sick of the "no proof" comments.
