If you use blurred frenzy as a burst finisher to quickly put someone in down state, I might suggest the sigil of hydromancy.  The shortcoming  would be you would have to be closer to the your enemy ( I think the range on hydromancy is 300 iirc) when you swap to your sword.  The sigil of hydromancy also hits for ~ 500 and can crit (iirc, it also scales with power).

More often times than not, when you put hydromancy on your higher DPS burst weapons, it is pretty much a death sentence for those around you.

My main is a necro, I can confidently say that freeze is the bane of so many players.

yea it basically works like 100 blades but frenzy also causes distortion so you take no damage during the channel and as people are getting better and better at pvp its getting harder and harder to get people with the rooted attacks like 100 blades and frenzy.. unless you are effected by quickness its hard to get this off on decent players.. i also do use hydromancy on one of my weapons

oh also i updated the build to 20 20 10 0 20

I'm also debating which trait will be most useful in the chaos line if i should just drop the chaos line and add those points some where else

I like the 20 20 10 0 20 build idea and will adopt it for my level 30 Mesmer I am leveling up (now at 5 5 5 0 5). Toughness is important for this class or leveling will be frustrating. So far using a high quality GS/Staff combo I can take on mobs I would not have tried with my ranger, thief, or engineer. Mesmer is an awesome class and I am enjoying playing it (my glad is languishing now as I have little interest in leveling it).

yea my mesmer can pull off some amazing encounters none of my other classes could.. as long as nothing hits you,  you don't really need toughness:P:) i had almost no toughness when I leveled

Agrees on that :P ,played thief mostly and then tried mesmer, very classes has similarites, but main rule is to kill fast and not get hit ;D ,so who need thougness ? :)

That's fine if you are soloing normal stuff. In dungeons it's pretty hard to not get hit. Aoes, ranged heavy hitters and you're done for. I'm playing ranger who really can keep her distance, but still I'm investing into some defensive imrpovements, because I feel I die every time someone looks at me angrily.

If you can kill your opponent quickly (normal mobs, PvP) toughness is not important... with stronger opponents, if you fail one retard check, you're down.

That is correct, for dungeons it works good if u will put some defense traits like the shatter give vigor which helps me mostly most of the time in dungeons that i can keep doing a great dmg, stay near 2-3 elites/silver mobs, do blurred frenzy and dash backwards, about rangers I dont have problem and aoe too , aoe usually isnt targted at u nor does it do too much dmg,and rangers ranged attacks area also pretty hard hit if they do hit u,bu once u are ranged ranger u open urself too much to meele and will die quickly,i am playing thief/mesmer and have no problem with rangers, since i builded my friend some build ,what scary me is the meele ranger with sword, dagger if i meele him ill pretty much be doomed  x_x , if u need help on ur ranger ill gladly help u~!yes if u keep distance means u need put soome defense since ur probobly  will get aggroed since ur easy target to take cuz of that,so better to suprise them with some defense :D what ranger do u play condtion/dmg?

yea that is correct mob/pvp there thoness isnt imporant yup, that is why I practice and evading as much as i can to not fail too much so i wont be down,so ill probobly invest in usfeul defense tools since I lack thoness,I have around 1980 armor with my thief and 1800~ with my meser,so far i didnt had problem in dungeons or any other places overall if i gonna deal a lot of dmg, means il have to evade tons of dmg too,and for that i must use any defensive skill i have ~!
