I'm just glad they didn't use the live action trailer.
Play for fun. Play to win. Play for perfection. Play with friends. Play in another world. Why do you play? |

If anything, this shows Warner doesn't care about LOTRO at all and just wants to squeeze a maximum money out of it for minimal costs. Well done, ArenaNET. The Hobbit + Advertisement + XMas coming = excellent move. And WB and Turbine... epic fail. |

Cool, but the trailer seemed a bit generic (can't say I got a very good look at it though).

Here's a working link: http://www.youtube.com/user/arenanetofficial?v=M6bHAIx2gBQ Ok, i admit, it was a lot better than the "Our Time Is Now" ad, but it was still generic. |

Nice. I'm glad they're advertising. We don't have cable at home but when I was in Orlando on business a few weeks ago I saw MoP ads all over ESPN. |

Originally posted by FromHell It's not a stunt, it's called getting their product out there so they can feed their families. You find it embarrassing because you don't know how business works. no GW2 won't kill WoW, but it's time to move on and quit worrying about those people still playing it. - eyelolled |

Originally posted by FromHell Massive ad campaigns are more "fishy" when it is done prior to launch. Most of the GW2 hype pre-launch was generated by fans and very little was actually done in terms of promotions until AFTER the game launched. Considering how long it has been since launch and how much of a big deal it is to get an ad infront of a huge movie like this, I would say they spent a considerable investment in order to do such a thing. Such an investment can only be made if they are making a considerable amount of money from their game. (especially considering it has been several months since launch) You won't see a LOTRO ad infront of the movie because the game is not generating enough revenue to warrant creating an ad. You don't like the game, ok we get it, but if it were TSW advertising infront of a movie you would be more then thrilled. Then again, Funcom being able to even air a commercial these days would be shocking considering how little they are actually making off their games because of a how bad they are. B2P for a game you can get for less then 20$ less then 6 months after launch, oh boy that must suck for those guys. That was a good move, (the only good move Funcom has made, ever, maybe?) but it won't save the company. |

Now enlighted by this wisdom, we should all cancel our GW2 subscriptions and buy a "The Secret World" box and life time account, before TSW shuts down its last server.

Originally posted by Bad.dog I don't know for sure, but I've heard stories about how TSW fans have a desperate need to invade GW2 threads. Maybe there is subliminal communication in TSW causing this sort of behavior. I used to think that what happened is the TSW players would go do their Google search and type in "Greatest Game Ever wants me to look up <insert relevant search item>" and google results would be all about Guild Wars 2. You can't really blame Google though, they are just trying to provide search results that a majority of people would be interested in, not just a handful. All of my posts are either intelligent, thought provoking, funny, satirical, sarcastic or intentionally disrespectful. Take your pick. |
