Any fool can know. The point is to understand.

I'm just glad they didn't use the live action trailer.

Play for fun. Play to win. Play for perfection. Play with friends. Play in another world. Why do you play?

If anything, this shows Warner doesn't care about LOTRO at all and just wants to squeeze a maximum money out of it for minimal costs.

Well done, ArenaNET. The Hobbit + Advertisement + XMas coming = excellent move.

And WB and Turbine... epic fail.

Cool, but the trailer seemed a bit generic (can't say I got a very good look at it though).

Dude, I saw pandas during the Pats-Texans game.

+1

Nothing odd about a company advertising its product. That how they grow lol. I am working in medical sales and the #1 thing I do is show existing and potential customers new products and sales going on at the time. And of course why they should buy from me instead of the other guys.

Growing business is all about good marketing.

My guess is your not working in a marketing department anywhere =)

First came pride, then envy.

Ok, i admit, it was a lot better than the "Our Time Is Now" ad, but it was still generic.

Nice.  I'm glad they're advertising.

We don't have cable at home but when I was in Orlando on business a few weeks ago I saw MoP ads all over ESPN.

It's not a stunt, it's called getting their product out there so they can feed their families.  You find it embarrassing because you don't know how business works.

You find that a company is advertising their product,...embarrassing?  You must be ashamed to wear Nikes, eat Dorritoes and  drive a Toyota.  I'm sure you will come back and say you don't wear Nikes, don't eat Dorritoes and have never owned a Toyota, but you know what I'm saying.

+1 to you sir...

I really don't get it why people think advertising a game is always a sign of how bad it's doing...

WOW advertised on national TVs and cinemas too in US AND EU! Diablo did as well...  I don't see blizz being in trouble any time soon. :D

Oh, not to mention COD... you sure we're on the same planet?

It's just amazing an mmo company can afford something like this on nothing less than a movie projection of probably the most expected movie in the last 2 years..

Fine, I hated every game on that list. I reached a point where I think there is something fishy with massive ad campaigns (SWTOR anyone?), otherwise they could rely on word of mouth, but no they need to invest millions into massive ad campaigns so everyone and their uncle buys a copy

Is there an XCOM trailer in cinemas? Now that is a great game, did they show preorder trailers in front of Prometheus-- because that movie had aliens in it?

What does the movie Hobbit have to do with Gw2 anyway? Shouldn´t they rather play a LOTRO ad infront of this??

Anyway, weird company. I don´t like their methods, and I don´t like their game. But yeah if they go ahead and want to spend millions on advertising, it might pay off eventually

Massive ad campaigns are more "fishy" when it is done prior to launch. Most of the GW2 hype pre-launch was generated by fans and very little was actually done in terms of promotions until AFTER the game launched. Considering how long it has been since launch and how much of a big deal it is to get an ad infront of a huge movie like this, I would say they spent a considerable investment in order to do such a thing. Such an investment can only be made if they are making a considerable amount of money from their game. (especially considering it has been several months since launch)

You won't see a LOTRO ad infront of the movie because the game is not generating enough revenue to warrant creating an ad. You don't like the game, ok we get it, but if it were TSW advertising infront of a movie you would be more then thrilled. Then again, Funcom being able to even air a commercial these days would be shocking considering how little they are actually making off their games because of a how bad they are. B2P for a game you can get for less then 20$ less then 6 months after launch, oh boy that must suck for those guys. That was a good move, (the only good move Funcom has made, ever, maybe?) but it won't save the company.

Oh noes! A company advertises their medieval fantasy themed game to an audience of a medieval fantasy themed movie!
Worse! ANet/NCSoft are not advertising another companies fantasy game that covers the same IP as the movie instead of their own!

How disgraceful!

How deceptive!

How unbecoming!

How inappropiate!

How dare you ANet?  How dare you! Down with you ANet!

Now enlighted by this wisdom, we should all cancel our GW2 subscriptions and buy a "The Secret World" box and life time account, before TSW shuts down its last server.

I don't know for sure, but I've heard stories about how TSW fans have  a desperate need to invade GW2 threads. Maybe there is subliminal communication in TSW causing this sort of behavior.

I used to think that what happened is the TSW players would go do their Google search and type in "Greatest Game Ever wants me to look up <insert relevant search item>" and google results would be all about Guild Wars 2. You can't really blame Google though, they are just trying to provide search results that a majority of people would be interested in, not just a handful.

All of my posts are either intelligent, thought provoking, funny, satirical, sarcastic or intentionally disrespectful. Take your pick.
