Hi all,

I got quite a few really cool moments in gw2 lately and I thought maybe it would be nice if people shared their cool moments in game. If you found DE with story that made you wow, or scenery, or NPC discussion, anything, please share it :) Also please try to not spoiler too much. Don't give locations and names if not necessary. Thanks.

Anyway, yesterday I got quite touching and little bit disturbing DE. I came to a cave with huge giant standing in front of it. He asked me to bring him some mushrooms, so he can get smaller and he could fit the cave and visit his friends. Pretty standard stuff, right?

Well I collected it for him and DE continued. Now I should go and escort him through said cave to visit his friends. What was quite surprising... His friends were actually dead and he was visiting their graves that were inside a cave and I found out, this giant had to leave his friends for a while and centaurs raided their camp killing them all. Needless to say giant blamed it on himself.

Talking to ghost of a girl he clearly liked a lot and reading markings on other graves kinda sent shivers down my spine. For some reason it felt so very real.

Another similar one in human areas. A man asks for an escort to his old home to look for a few items dear to him, and when he finds the first one, a ghost appears, and greets him, asking how he was back from work so early, and how his day was. A bit forward, he finds another one of his items, and a little girl ghost appears, asking why daddy looks so sad, asking if he's ok. Everything is fine, he says, everything is just fine.

These are the cool little things that I like about GW2. The devs really did put in some neat stuff. It is the little touches like this that really make a game for me.

Funny you should mention this particular DE as I just came across it two nights ago myself and had the same thoughts. A very well designed DE in retrospect as it actually made me stop and think, inspect the tombstones and pay my respects to the fallen. Felt quite sorry for the Giant as well afterwrads.

the giant's name is Fen.  Did you notice a tombstone that read "Fen, Son of Fen" - that was probably your giant's son...

Did that one pretty cool indeed!

The one that make me say "wow, this game is awesome" was when I ran into the jumping puzzle in Sharkmaw Caverns behind LA. Man that was awesome, have never seen anything like that in an MMO before.

Yeah, I just did that the other night.  The inscription on the tombstone read something on the lines of, Doctor who didn't know what he was doing.

Sounds like a real life person, and the doctor misdiagnosed or  gave a diagnosis that was to late to treat?

GW1 had the same touches and it is what makes the game unique and worth playing still. GW2 has them really more integrated into the story so it makes them even have more impact.

Yesterday I found another fun thing :) In one of Norn areas, there was secret dwarven catacomb I could enter. Btw this catacomb didn't start with any DE or so... you just had to read carefully a few inscriptions and talk to some people to actually access it.

That's first nice touch. I like when game doesn't give you everything on silver platter :) Anyway I entered that catacomb and experienced very interesting if a bit frustrating mini dungeon. Have you ever been to dark room? Well something like that... only with traps and monsters :)

There was kinda twist to that, as monsters there were afraid of fire, so torch you had was able to scare them off. But get knocked or step on trap stone and bye bye, fairly long corpse run :)

In case you want to try it out, here is little spoiler: (use your mouse to select "red lines" to read it).

Hint 1:

You can find this area in northern Dredgehaunt cliffs,  door is located around W in "Wyrmblood lake"

Hint 2:

After that you need to go to Travelen's Steading's (north east from there) and talk to archeologist here.
