Originally posted by Kniknax Yes, there is an overflow server so you never have to stand in line (queue) to get into the game. It basically drops you into the game, just not in the same "world" as your normal server until room opens up. Works pretty nicely. Just one of the many truly evolutionary things about GW2 (although I don't think they are the first to do something like this, they are definitely the first "major" MMO to do so). The only reason to look for low population servers in GW2 is if you just don't like playing with others. lol |

I thought Darkhaven sounded the coolest when faced with blindly picking a server during beta. In the same predicament as you elocke, no clue where to sign up for launch. Wish they listed ping and other helpful information.

Originally posted by Zooce All of the servers for each region of the game are in the same physical location, so theoretically your "ping and other helpful information" should be identical, no matter which server you pick, for your region. Granted, technically there is always going to be a tiny bit of variation. But nothing to the degree that it matters at all. |

Originally posted by Kniknax You're welcome. For RP (NA) Tarnished Coast is still the unofficial server for those looking for a lot of RP. I usually like RP servers in games but, since WvsWvsW is my main goal though, with GW2 I'll be following our guild to Sorrows Furnace or Gates of Madness.
What happens when you log off your characters????..... |

I'll be going where ever the most known PVP guilds go, unless I find an adult guild that is real cool that pvps. I have no interest in playing with kids, or in a family friendly enviornment, its a pain to find a good crew to game with.

For a RP server roll on Tarnished Coast. Seems to still be holding as the unofficial (english speaking) RP server even through the stress tests.
Quite a busy place too, course I guess they all are during these events. |

I too am concerned about this as I am not sure when/if many of my MMO friends are playing, so I'm looking to join the MMORPG.com guild.

Why not join a guild? Otherwise you could just load up a random number generator and assign each server a number and have it pick the server for you. |

Originally posted by Lord.Bachus Yep. The last thing you want when you play in Europe and are English speaking is to end on the "unofficial" Russian, Polish, Italian or Spanish server... I made that experience once in WoW (was on the "unofficial" Italian server before they added native Italian language servers), I ended in groups for dungeons where nobody except me was talking English, not to mention the spam on public chat channels. |

Far shiverpeaks is a Scandinavian server which I'm from, but I prefer English over my Swedish and Norwegian brothers.
Underworld just got their ass kicked in WvW beta so I'm afraid we also get that at release :( Playing ATM: Diablo III KICKSTARTED: Camelot Unchained. (250 USD) |

I would recommend holding off until the LoD alliance(Ascension) choses where we are going. We are still waiting for more of our members to pick up the game to push the alliance into chosing what we want and also the alliance will then top 1k members before release if we can talk our (LoD) Havoc, BK and lolcapslock branches into coming to the game. That will give the alliance another 200ish long time PvPers. And yes I am biased because ive been an LoD member since Meridian 59 and think we will make whatever server we chose the best WvWvW in the game. |

Originally posted by Jagarid Yeah but as far as I can tell some of the major alliances are actively trying to find oceanics to cover the off times in WvW so there may not be a just one or two oceanic main servers/ |

I assume we can reroll on another server if our first choice stinks?
I preordered but haven't played in the beta. I was going to wait until the last minute to pick a server. |

Originally posted by FrodoFragins Alas, you can not.
There is a possibility that they may allow you switch servers for the first little while since their may be confusion among friends getting on the right server together at launch. But I don't think they've released hard details on this.
Be very careful when deciding you server, because that will be your server for life at a certain point (with the exception of paid server changes).
I should also mention that home server really only decides what server you will play for in WvW. You can guest to other servers in PvE and get the exact same experience you would get on your home server. SWTOR is the greatest mmo ever! |

Originally posted by colddog04 Actually, yes you can. All you have to do is delete your character from the first server you picked, and you can then select and make a new character on any server of your choice. |
