I've been in a few of the stress tests. Like the BWE, these are actual stress tests, and not marketting hype. Expect them to hammer servers as hard as they can durin these 4 hours. Meaning lag, lag spikes, and server crashes. The reason they do these is generally to either:

a) Test server capabilities with newer features.

b) They plan on increasing server load (more players) for the next BWE.

c) both.

I will say, if you haven't played the game yet, the stress test isn't the ideal experience. You can get a quick look at some of the mechanics / zones / etc. But you won't be able to do much else, and you will be fighting server stability a good portion of the time. The BWEs are a lot more smooth, and also give you a lot more time to actually learn / appreciate the game.

Go away. It will be ready and when it's ready. People pushing release dates is the reason why most games are unfinished pieces of trash now days.

Actually, I'll continue to drink my kool aid while I wait for the release cause GW2 isn't vaporware, I've played it, so the reality check is on you or should I say patience check.

Currently Playing: LOTRO - GW2 - TSW

Waiting For: EQN and Camelot Unchained cause Mark Jacobs is a friggin genius.

I would rather a concrete date than them giving one and then pushing it back for what ever reason.

Tsw had a release date set but obiously needed more work so it got pushed back which is good but if I had my heart set on playing on that date it just creates dissapointment.

I just hope when they do give us an official date it is accurate.

Did they send invitation to this stress test via mail yet or not?

As for the time frame, as a European it really suits me well as I return from work half an hour before it starts.

That being said I can understand the frustration of non-european customers.

The test is 20:00 to 24:00 in Greek time btw, for my fellow Greeks on the board.

I agree-I'm not sure why this time was chosen to do a stress test. Seems if you really wanted a stress test again, a weekend would be better.

My only other thought was this is just a quick stress test to see if all of the servers are up and running correctly before something major happens-like release!

Yeah, because TSW is in so much better shape than GW2 now... or was it the other way around?

GW2 is already in better shape than AoC and AO are years after their launch.

We can only hope :)

Having said that, I don't want to see it released until the developers are happy with it. Far too many games have launched long before they were ready because the accountants said so. I'm fairly confident that won't happen in this case but who can tell what pressures the bean counters place them under.

Anyway, time will tell...

Actually, it says right on the Stress Test update that there will be another BWE. Maybe not in so many words, but basically, theres at least one more BWE before release.

TSW is not in better shape than GW - there were so many problems with the models. My character actually had no waist - the top and bottom were disconnected adn you could see through.

TSW is being pushed out too early.

Haven't played TSW, but Funcom is notorious for doing this as both Anarchy Online and Age of Conan are proof enough of this poor behavior. You would think that Funcom would stop doing this, but apparently gamers are rabid enough not to care.
