http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Dynamic_level_adjustment "A scaled down character continues to receive experience and loot appropriate to their real level" there it states that if you are leveled down to suite the area you are in, for example your actual level 30 but you are down leveled to 15 for an area. Did anyone else notice that when you were in a area that down leveled you approrpiate to the area if the gear that was dropped by mobs suite your "actual level" not the leveled down level?
I noticed most of the time when I was level 35+ going back over lower level area's I was getting drops for the low level not my actual level. Did anyone else notice this or experience this?
on the other hand the experience I obtained was fairly decent and I didn't notice it much lower then when I was in my actual level area. Did you find that the exp you got was much lower or the same? |

It's been like that since the first beta. It may not be blue or green but the level required to use it is always about the same level and your actual level. |

You receive gear 6-0 levels below your current level, while you still can get gear of the appropriate level at which you're fighting at, it is possible to get some crappy drop gear to compensate any lack of crafting. As for exp scaling, well no, doing events in Queensdale do not yield as much exp as doing events in Gendarran, they probably never will. At level 50 it took aproximately 50 events per level in Gendarran Fields.
The only purpose of this system is to make it not feel like a waste of time when you're going back to help friends progress. |

Yeah, I also wondered about that. The loot scaling does work for WvW, dungeons and jumping puzzle chests though. |

The system is setup so that if you go help out your lower level friend you gain exp and loot nearly equal to your level so as to not be a waste of your time. I personally did not see it dropping appropriate level loot therefor the system wasn't working for me. I did how ever see that the EXP I got was fairly good compared to what I got at higher level zones, the same? no but not horrible.
I'd agree that I don't want GW2 to be about look whores but it'd be nice if the systems they have in place work appropriately therefor its still in BETA because little things like this aren't working quite as intended for everyone. |

Could be intended this way for 2 reasons. 1) To discourage leveling by staying in the starter zone. If gear and exp rewards were exactly the same as high level areas there would be no reason to explore at all, for some people. You'll get the occasional useful item, and some exp and coins to make it feel ok to help lower leveled people or check out new content in old zones as it's added, but you can't just "farm" there efficiently. 2) To provide salvage for leveling crafting skills. When you hit level 80 you might want to level some crafts that require low end materials, this would leave a way for that to be possible without relying on the marketplace or farming alts. |

I found I got low level as well as my actual level drops when doing lower level content (which I am scaled down for). Not sure it is intended or not, but it seems to work out great. Getting some drops is nice, but I think getting more level specific drops if you are doing your level appropriate content makes more sense. Have not had issues with drops in game yet, most everything is useful for the crafting materials alone. |

You get item drops for your actual level, not adjusted level. This was confirmed by my own experience. |

I actually found it to be somewhere between. When I went back as 30+ to do lvl 5 -8 Charr area I was getting level 24-26 gear. |

Originally posted by moosecatlol I experimented with the amount of xp you get from a DE in Queens and Gendarran Fields around lvl 35. Even though the leveling curve goes flat after level 20, there is a leveling curve from 2-20. So, it makes sense that XP in zones below level 20 are tailored to the actual XP required for those levels. I'd be more interested in comparing level 35 content to level 20 content. Also, a large percentage of XP we get from adventuring in an area is for exploration. Once an area has been explored, going back there to help friends will see a drop in XP efficiency, just because there will be no explporation or heart task XP rolling in for stuff you've already found or completed. That said, I never felt I was wasting time helping a lower level friend. Also, when I was having trouble finding events in some of the higher level areas, I would go back to lower level areas with more plentiful DE content to restore my leveling rate. (I transfered to a new server for BWE2 and there were very few people in Gendarran Fields, which seems to have decreased the frequency of events). I'm sure there is still fine tuning for all of this. I'm hoping that even at level 70, level 20 content will still be fun and rewarding, but with clear benefits to doing content closer to your level. Yep OP I noticed that item levels were my appropriate level ( that pleasantly surprised me as I hadn't known about it)

I definitely got some level-appropriate upgrades whilst downlevelled (a level 20 or 21 pistol I got in a level 15 heart area springs to mind).

I only got up to about L15, but going back and doing some of the lowest level dynamic events (L6-8), I was getting gear for L6-8. Although that does fall within the range of 0-6 that someone else said earlier so I can't really confirm anything. |
