Title says it all. For me out of all of those that i tried i found the ranger to offer very good synergy between his skill pool. How about you?

I think it depend on the player personality, and don't forget we played just for few days, so we don't know the game well and aren't very skilled. I personally tried 4 professions, one i just got it pretty much the same second i began to use it, as if it was hand crafted for me. But before i played 3 professions i was pretty terrible at them. Some other players think my best profession is terrible and they are like writing essays on how to fix it and revamp it on forums, and the one i disliked even if i was sure before the beta it was the one for me are like super cool to them.
In any case it is necro to me, but i'll still try all the class before launch, i hope ill have time to have a good idea of them all. This is exactly what i planned for beta, and even if necro fit me like a glove for now, i'll try other like the ranger i seam to dislike the most, maybe it will feel to me even better than necro, who knows. |

Where's the option "I can't judge because I didn't play all the classes extensively enough" ? ***** Before hitting that reply button, please READ the WHOLE thread you're about to post in ***** |

I for myself liked the feel and look of the Thief and Guardian. |

I think the elementist was the best developed. You could easily switch between spells and the elements. |

Before even voting, I just knew it was going to be Ele. ...Skin deep that might be true but, Anet's always had a bad habit of letting Necros hog most of it. When it comes to real kinds of synergy further down the road after people stop being newbs at this, they'll start to realize where it's really at. I don't even really like Necro anymore but I can already tell they're vastly underrated right now. |

What exactly do you mean by synergy? My definition is what class would I want to be teamed with or play, and I voted ranger. They are strong ranged or melee. The synergy combos just seem to be gimmicks to me. If they were to be effective, then you would be back at some new version of the trinity, you need X and Y and Z to to this OP combo etc. GW2, after 5 years of hype, turns out to be just another Asian end game cash shop grinder. Now that sales have dropped off, F2P can't be far off. |

Originally posted by ennymith By synergy i mean how different skills interact with each other so that their combined effect is greater than their individual effects. Mentioning the Ranger an example of this would be the combining of the longbow weapon skill "Rapid Fire" which fire multiple arrows at your foe with the utility skill "Sharpening Stone" which bleed foes with your next five attacks which results in applying 5 bleeds in quick succession due to the Rapid Fire skill. |

I chose "All of the Above" as I haven't played all the classes (nor has probably anyone to a higher level), so it is pretty hard to even vote on this at this point. I need more than a few days of time with the game to really even call myself an expert in just one class ... let alone all of them. Of the classes I have played, Theif, Necro, Guardian and Engineer, I would say that the Theif seems to have the best synergy between skills of that bunch. This is coming from a 33+ guardian, 10+ engineer and 5+ theif and necro. The Guardian has some combinations that synergize well, and many that simply don't. This is a pretty noob take on everything though, need more time with the game and the classes before I can really say for sure. |

A 'really don't know since I haven't played them all to full' choice would have been nice. :) |

I thought the warrior felt really nice. You can either use the weapons for different situtations or use them in a way where the abilities from one weapon benefit another (synergy!). The hammer can stun a target for the greatsword. The one-handed sword and warhorn can help the warrior catch a running target or lead a group to charge into a swarm of enemies so that everybody can use their melee weapons. If you think you will miss with your rifle burst attack you can swap weapons to use another weapons burst attack. Certain burst skills, like the ones on the hammer and axe, can be used to leap towards an enemy that is trying to kite you. There are a lot of weapon combos that you can mix and match to see what suits you. Though, I didn't try out an elementalist. I don't know how well their abilities work with each other yet. |

Originally posted by ennymith The synergy combos just seem to be gimmicks to me. No they can be super powerfull, if you can block incoming damage to wait for your best damage cool down to end or your heal for exemple, this kind of synergy make the difference between lasting a fight or die in a matter of seconds. I think most people voted ele because they do offer the largest choice in skill combo (you have 4 skills bar rather than 2), but imo that doesn't mean they have good synergy, especially because they have to choose one weapon only that is usually very specialized, and imo the attunement vs weapon is a big malus on them when it come to synergy. I find weapon swap give way more versatility than attunements. In fact i found all the atunements skills to be too similar, and yet elementalist weapons give the same kind of verstility other class have even thought they are unable to switch 2sets, maybe i had a wrong impression. Imo warrior and necro have way more synergy, from the class i played anyway. |

I think the ranger had it best. I felt competent in range and melee and felt confident to switch to whichever I wasn't using when in emergencies. My favorite combination was shortbow---short sword+dagger. The shortsword, I feel, was cheating lol. This fighting style was all about evading attacks and actually dealing a good amount of damage altogether. combined with the dagger was yet another evade skill and a crippling dagger throw. Short bow was a very mobile weapon with no skill charge bars. |
