Why do people keep asking these questions with themeparks? if there's no player created/driven content, it is then finite, it runs out, it drains. There's pvp, harder dungeons, quests you may have missed, achivements, etc, etc. What happens when i reach max level? What happens when i finish the story' What about replayability? You have to wait for more content, like in all themepark mmo's. |

Sounds to me that the OP will do his usual routine of putting on his dark shade glasses he uses for soloing, run to maximum level, collecting the best gear along the way and Wait ! Your too good, you don't care about community. You may use the community now and then to achieve your own goals but basically others are only their for your quick race to cap. You win, you showed how smart you are, and your very efficient. I'm not making fun of the OP. I'm more saying that many players play mmo's like this.
Me, I don't care a rats butt about my experience bar, a good day is adding three more friends to my friends list....Try that ! |

I kind of understand your position. Once I hit level cap, I will most likely be done with PVE due to the fact that chasing cosmetic rewards simply is not attractive for me. It has never been. As you said, you will be left with PvP which I believe will be fun for some time. Considering the fact that the game does not have a monthly subscription, all that is in stake is the purchase price of the game. If the PvP kept you entertained for a month or two, I would still consider it a good investment. If you get bored, you simply quit and then return if you feel like playing the game again. You can remain subscribed to your MMO and every time you feel like you need to take a break, you can play some WvWvW for a while. That is how I will play the game once I hit level 80. Just like I used to do it with SC 2. I always played WoW for several hours, then I needed to take a break, so I played some SC 2 matches and then went back to WoW. To be honest, I also cant imagine having this game as my main MMO which is not fault of the game. It is more about the type of gamer I am.

if you dont like to PvP for hours on structured match WvWvW or later in fights between guilds then its not your game.
Becouse after you finish PVE you will rage on forums. |

I'm just interested in how many people they're getting due to not having a subscription. |

The obvious problem OP is in this statement "Eight toons in WoW (high fantasy) Three toons in RIFT (high fantasy), one toon in swtor. I'm sick of it." GW2 only costs you 60$ to play it. It costed you way more then that in just ONE of those games to get the same amount of entertainment......AND THEN IT WILL COST YOU EVEN MORE TO RETURN TO THOSE GAMES IN SUB FEES! I would assume that 90% of the Guild Wars population will run thru its content in 2-3 months and start taking breaks....and then return after there 6month updates. And then enjoy that free content for well....FREE and begin the cycle over again, Expansions cost money....but updated content is free, And if GW2 is anything like GW1 there will be lots of free content added to enjoy. If you get bored after 2-3 months dont worry about it, take a break.........you will be back http://medias.luna-atra.fr/gw2/char_tool/CT_imageGenerator.php?pseudo=Centurion%20Mikal&lang=EN&code=&code=TSwtLDUsLSw2LC0sMjksOSwyMiwyMywyNCwtLDEwMiwzNiw4MSw4NCw4OQ%3D%3D |

Originally posted by cooper85 There's no use trying. There is NOTHING Guild Wars 2 has to offer right now to change your mind, because it seems like your primary hook is the "setting". You're basically burned out from medieval-fantasy themes, and I think you know it for yourself. I don't know why you have to make a thread like this, but looking at how its going I can tell you want attention. You said you hate levelling. There's levelling in TSW. It's even closer to WoW than GW2 is, but you don't seem to mind. You're asking yourself what to do once you're at cap, but I doubt that you don't know what is there in GW2 and TSW at level cap. You can either do more quests, instances or PvP in TSW, while in GW2 you can do more DE's, WvWvW, dungeons, or finish your personal story. Basically the same set of activities. It's ok if you don't find this game fun past 2 months. I personally don't find TSW fun after the appeal of its "modern-day" setting has worn of, which for me will be over much sooner than 2 months, as I can only "ignore" the uncomfortable battle system and distracting animations for so long. On a side note I just find it somewhat ironic that when "researching" in TSW the first results from Google are the TSW message boards... |

Knowing that I'll get enough enjoyment to justify the initial cost and then have no pressue to justify any expense beyond that makes it a much better prospect for me. |

Well, IF they deliver on their promises, ArenaNet will add new rulesets for sPvP after launch. Tournaments will be enough to keep the competitive PvP fans. My only fear is that having no personal gains in W v W at level 80 will make most players just ignore it. |

GW2 will be exactly the right game for you - believe me! 1. There is no monthly subscription. 2. There is no item grind as a so called "end-game". That is brilliant! So if you are again bored from playing a fantasy-MMO, just take a break and do something else. You can come back whenever you want to without any disadvantages and just have fun. 3. You can make another character. Leveling is great fun in this game. You like to stroll around an area and do whatever crosses your path? There are so many things to explore in this game: other branches in the personal story, DEs and their outcoming, skillpoint-challenges, jumping puzzles, etc. 4. You can explore the dungeons. Each dungeon will have several explorable modes which lead to completely different content. 5. You can help others. Helping guildmates leveling is great because of the side-kick system. So even if you already know everything that is going to happen, it is still challenging and your friends are happy to have somebody who has a clue about all the DEs. 6. You can go out with your guildmates and search all the open-world-raid-bosses. There will be epic DEs that are like raid-encounters. 7. You can do some battlegrounds just to have fun. No honor-system here, no pvp-items and no waiting-cues. Just jump in and measure your pvp-skills with others. 8. There is a pvp-ranking. So if you like good competition you can found a pvp-group and try to get a good ranking. Keep in mind that this is not WoW: If somebody is better, he or she gets no uber-items. So you always have a chance against everybody. 9. Oh and there is WvWvW a huge 24/7 pvp-map with everything you want: 3 factions, castles, siege-weapons, etc.
Advertising has us chasing cars and clothes, working jobs we hate so we can buy shit we don't need. |

The simple fact that the OP compared GW2 to SW:TOR proves his total ignorance about this game and its mechanics. And then you look his post history...[mod edit] |

Players come for the game, but they stay for the people- Most Devs have forgotten this. |

This right here is the core of your problem. You need to stop thinking of games in terms of other games and look at it on it's own merits or fails.
What will you be doing in 2 months? I don't know.. depends on who you are and what you like. For a B2P game though 2 months play is good value anyhow. Something like ME3 offers you a LOT less. I personally can see me doing WvW, achievements, and alts, as well as enjoying whatever new content is fed in to the game. It's a bit odd you ask this question though... because GW2 actually offers you as much, more in fact, then other MMOs do, or do you consider raiding the only end game activity?
If it's you are just bored personally of fantasy, then play something that isn't that. No one will mind or be offended. You shouldn't feel obliged to play a game just because it's new or other people are excited for it. Find your own way.
(I also think SWtOR and GW2 have very little in common in scope, imagination, ambition, philiosphy, or accessibility) |

This game is B2p, so who the hell cares? 60 bucks for 2 months sounds like your getting your monies worth. Better than spending 60 on a platform title and getting 10-15 hrs of game.
People cry on here about some of the dumbest stuff.
