Not sure if this was posted.... was digging through some GW2 vids and had to share it!
Edit: Also I know it seems a bit choppy, but it seems he is running it on medium with fraps. My comp would explode personally... |

Now that's what you call immersive and innovative. Good show, ArenaNet.

That looked awesome indeed. I'm still having trouble making out combat information visually. The red circles OK, get out of them. Saw a couple stand happily in them. Green portals, bad, OK. Destroy. Everything else...not so sure. Is it because of the particles? I see the portals disappear (or were destroyed? I cannot tell!) and then the minions start spawning. From where? Were they the...things that were dropping from the sky (http://youtu.be/kFKFqzRhXKs?t=4m34s) or did they come out from the water where the destroyed/disappeared portals were (http://youtu.be/kFKFqzRhXKs?t=4m15s)? Then what the heck did the boss do? http://youtu.be/kFKFqzRhXKs?t=4m55s And here? http://youtu.be/kFKFqzRhXKs?t=5m46s, http://youtu.be/kFKFqzRhXKs?t=6m59s, http://youtu.be/kFKFqzRhXKs?t=8m27s Was it avoidable? Argh, so frustrating. Does anyone else make out what the heck is going on? Given the chance of watching the video and watching it carefully. Imagine being there. I would be overwhelmed and not know what to do besides maybe DPSing from range, killing spawns and resurrecting people while avoiding the red circles.

It's an awesome video. I've seen it before, way back when they first showed the game at a convention (forget which one). Nice to see it updated and fresh, looks great. I cant imagine how fun the entire meta-event is just to get up to that point. :) I also wonder what zone that takes place in. I also like how everyone gets a big chest full of rewards, like Grumbles Cookies lol. She got a pretty sweet mace, not good for her but probly worth selling, and it's nice to see a few of the gems you use to upgrade your gear. It's a nice touch and adds even more customization to an MMOG rife with customization potential. |

The devs were saying they were specifically working on making this aspect better in the BETA. Lets hope they do. SWTOR is the greatest mmo ever! |

Yeah that's a cool meta event.. the exciting thing is there are lots of zones that will have epic bosses like that once people complete a long chain of dynamic events. :) Can't wait :) I love people's reaction in the chat text when it appears :p |

At the end GW2 will revolve about healers just like almost every mmo, the difference being that in this case "healer" will mean anyone with the decency and brains to stop mashing the enemy to help ress a fallen friend. They are the ones that will get the battles won. Healer wont be a class or a skill set. It will be an attitude |

So far every boss fight we have seen has been stationary and it shoots stuff out at people. It barely moved. I hope the rest aren't like that but I am getting that feeling that is how it is going to be. |

Originally posted by Mephster I've heard an example of a meta event that would feature some massive creature cutting a swath of destuction across a zone until it's stopped, so I'm guessing they all aren't stationary. It makes sense for most to be set up as seen, though. With the scale of these bosses, if they moved around, with would just be extremely frustrating. You'd spend most of your time running after it and little time fighting it. There aren't many boss fights from MMOs I can think of where the boss isn't stuck in a very limited space. Originally posted by Mephster These huge bosses, yea they can't move. But there are big enough elites that move, i fought this ancient rotten oak tree that was bigger than many bosses I had in wow and had to kite it "I am not a robot. I am a unicorn." |

Hmm, this boss fight looks rather easy actually. I saw a clear pattern of small shards -> big shards -> purple rift-like thingies. By just moving around enough you could easily dodge the shards, and you knew when the rifts would open so you could just save your dodges for that exact moment. That leaves only the thrash mobs that spawn from the portals. There didn't seem to be a lot of them, and it looked like they were all melee, so you could easily kite them. So close to all damage is avoidable. Which means it might be possible to solo this boss. Which I'm totally gonna do when I get the chance :P "I'll lead, you follow." |
