And believe it or not we Europeans have also discovered how to use bank accounts as well so we can also use PayPal to prepurchase games.

Because I was working there in an isolated part of the country and not there on a holiday? And I enjoy playing games with people back home which helps me keep in contact? The novelty of being in another country wears off after a while.

With your logic, why do you play games at all? Surely you have something better to do?

It didn't work in the first game. Brought game in EU as lived there, moved to NA couple of months later and I still connect through EU servers 200-400ping. Get the same ping on NA servers. I can play anywhere but there is something wrong with the data server region lock in GW1. Support told me it's my router lol.

You make some mistakes. If the price is including VAT, then excluding VAT is (75/119)*100. This is not the same as 75*0.81 The american price is the base, so that one is 100% . Taxes are on top of that.

Digital Deluxe : 75 euro, which is $98.01. This means that NCSoft (I assume) calculates 22.53% VAT.

Players in eastern Europe are fucked. They have low minimum wages, low VAT rates and still pay top euro price. I also wonder what the UK will have to pay extra on top of VAT. Theirs is 20% I think.

On-topic :

I guess what matters for travellers is how they will manage their account over 2 regions. Two copies doesn't automatically solve that, because it is not sure if you can access your account from a different region with the right copy of the game.

EDIT : I wonder if you can even use the listed american prices as reference. These are with 10% sales tax included right? If so, then the export price is lower, because sales tax gets replaced with VAT when exporting? This would make the price increase for EU even higher.

What they state is very clear, its a restriction, if the solution was as simple as contacting customer support and saying 'Oh hai, I have the Euro version but want the NA version, plz change!' then there is no point having a restriction in the first place is there?

I think most people impacted by the restriction would rather have the issue clarified by ArenaNet before Tuesday.

Besides, ArenaNet have already acknowledged that they overlooked travellers with this announcement and that this is a problem that requires a solution, so its not a case of being oversensitive. The fact that they are looking into it is reassuring, but I will continue to be concerned until they provide an adequate solution. Anyone in the same boat is unlikely to pre-order until they know that they wont be region locked.

Yeah, that was kinda my point. I doubt they would NOT want to accomodate in such a circumstance.
