Originally posted by Games888 Like I pointed out earlier, I don't think there will be US in gamer servers and European in game servers, I think its just In game Servers 1, 2.........etc But if you are lucky and is in a server of most EU and Asians, and is against mostly NA servers in WvWvW, they did state that in your next match up, you will also be against other in game servers that has a very healthy population of Europeans and Asians.
So it will always be a good match and good fights.

Good concern, I've thought about this aswell, I wonder if it happened [a lot] on DAOC with [3 servers]. However with matching a winning streak with that method is not [100] percent possible, least an unbeatable record from that method. I think servers are going to be for everyone to avoid that any way. Due the matches ending on a weekend your server should be able to make a come back.
Still time will tell and I do have the same concern.

the EU and US servers will be seperated b/c of the data center location and languages. Why would u want to connect to EU data center and get extra 300 ms lag for pvp. |

To take a keep one must gain entry to the keep and defeat its "boss npc" Yes if you are in NA and you do not play during your night hours then if you hold a keep you will be subject to night raids.
Guardians of the Garter plans on recruiting a massive group of players from NA and EU to combat this and make sure the keeps we own, we will keep. Also we will have set groups during NA Night hours attack supply lines to keeps we wish to take later, as well as defend our supply lines.
We'll be a global guild and we'll set up odd hour raids on occasion to throw a wrench into the works. NA by Day Casual PvE and Hardcore E-Sport Structured PvP. NA by Night War Lord in W v W.
I've been known to stop raids in their tracks discussing food, I'm retired and a chef so gaming is my hobby and cooking is my passion. We were in the middle of attempt number 5 on a boss in RIFT and I started discussing some dish I wanted to cook later after the raid and everyone just left to go grab something to eat.
Guilds have claimed me as their mascot before, In off times during Raids I'm known to play clips of music to help bring up the moral of the troops. By request I'll play a clip of your favorite song via voice chat for all to hear. My personal opinion is we shouldn't take our gaming so serious as to not have fun but not make it so leizure that we could offend anyone. After a major whipe or something silly happens I have sound clips such as Game Over from NES Super Mario Bro's or if you get a piece of loot you been working for months to get I'll play the Legend of Zelda song, you know the one when he puts the sword in the air and it plays a tune of victory!
Anyways just thought I'd share a bit of our fun Guardians of the Garter is going to be. What are you planning? |

Originally posted by TheTrueKing I think I heard it from Tales of Tyria Podcast that GW2 offers your own Musics when you play your game. That means if you have a favorite music for battles, you can imput the mp3 or other music files into the appropriate folder and it will use that music for your fights. Or something like that. I really like this option althougth I won't be using it.

Originally posted by Lucioon Yes in game you can impliment your own MP3's but nobody else can hear them. I load up clips into GSC so whom ever is in my group can hear it and it usually ties in with what is happening to our group so its funny.
I mean hearing beach boys "whipe out" just after a dungeon whipe is something that already plays in my head so I figured playing a little sound bite of that is fitting unless the whipe out is from someone who is not playing so well then it'd be different :P
Creeping around at 4am as a big raiding party with the mission impossible sound playing softly in the back HA HA HA HA!!! |

Just a humorous note, but for fight that involved a lot of movement and a lot of wiping, I always kept the theme music from,"The Benny Hill Show" handy. "Raiders of the Lost Ark" theme got a lot of play too. My favorite soundtrack to game to by far is the soundtrack to "Conan the Barbarian" movie. Epic.
On topic - I believe that the system GW2 is developing will allow for roughly similar server sizes and that will even things out. I believe all servers will have roughly the same amount of night owls and guilds dedicated to W v W. The rotating server system should help even out any discrepancies. Not too worried about this, no one can stay awake 24/7. ( Note to self-Don't say anything bad about Drizzt.) An acerbic sense of humor is NOT allowed here. |

Originally posted by Naral If a server has an imbalance of players on "the late shift", wouldn't that just make them more vulnerable during prime time? It's a war that plays out over two weeks, no single battle determines the winner. It's the aggragate score over the course of the full two weeks. There will be ebb and flow, if one side just owned everything for the entire two weeks, that would be pretty boring. Want to know more about GW2 and why there is so much buzz? Originally posted by Games888 I rarely break 100ms playing on European servers. /shrug. Sometimes upto 140-150 or so, and rarely awful connections, but the main reason I would want o play on European servers is because I have European friends. ;-P |

Thats how it worked in DAOC. I can remember setting my alarm for a 2am relic raid. Each faction was changing thier tactics constantly to keep up. One thing about DAOC though, was the population imbalance. That was one thing that never evened out, most servers were pretty bad. I think Anet solved that problem by having it server vs server vs server, instead of 3 factions all on the same server. I love how they solved so many problems while keeping the essense of the mechanic alive. |
