MMORPG.com Lineage 2 Correspondent Chris Sides writes this look at the most recent Gracia expansion for NCsoft's Lineage II.
Lineage 2 had felt like it was down in the dumps until the release of Gracia. The players of Aden love it, NCsoft loves the response from the community, and all this has created a great gaming environment. In this article, I will write about key features of the Gracia expansion, and I will also give my opinion on each feature.
The Gracia expansion has updated Lineage 2 in many fun and exciting ways. This expansion includes: the Vitality System, new skills, Kamaloka, a new hunting ground; and many more updates to existing systems. Some of the updates for the older systems of Lineage 2 include: cheaper armor/weapons, battle system changes, changes to existing skills, changes to PvP, a better pet system, new quests, changes to the interface, and NPC changes. I will talk about the more important of these changes in this article to really show the importance of Gracia

Was waiting for someone to cover this. Thanks! It's a good read.
I'm too lazy to find out by searching, but does L2 offer a free "welcome back" trial? I've had 2 accounts in the past, but don't want to fork over the bucks to try it and find out I still don't want to play it ;).
Not sure. They used to but I know they canceled that one in order to get the bot issue under control. I heard a while back that they had plans for a new system to allow players to come back for a trial, but I never really looked into it afterwords.
god ! ... I have been loving this game since the first time I touched it...even if I dont play it anymore...Gracia is just the cherry on the sunday
Lineage2 is the first MMO I played...
and it's like the first time you have sexual relations ( more like your first love)... you could never forget it...
Decent article but lacking objectivity and compelling reasoning for it's arguments ( "X is great! Everyone loves it." ). Should've been run through a spellchecker as well to be honest. It looks like something posted on a random blog rather than a feature article on a big site.
dude...you're rude...anyway... I dont mind the errors since I am a french-canadian ( quebecker if u wish ) as long as I understand what he means.
and is not it the "everyone loves it" that says if something is succesful or not ?
anyway where is objectivity on a gaming forum... especially on a MMO forum
I found this to be a good article. I know that the articles are ran through spellchecks and mmorpg.com reads the articles before they are put on their site. And I think that if the community loves it, it is a good argument. Just go to the forums of games where most of the players don't like the game and that's a good argument against the content.
Good article, makes me want to relook at L2.
What's interesting is that it is precisely because of some of these changes that many old-time Lineage 2 players left the game. Just one example is the huge nerf to archers. Also, the dumbing down of the game to make it easier for casuals and kids does not spell "winner idea" in my book, even if it does increase subscriptions.
Lots of MMOs are dumbing down, like Lord of the Rings Online is introducing huge dumb-downs and easier leveling with Volume 2, Book 7 - their next free game expansion due to go live later this month. This, in a game that was already simple and easy to play. Bah.
I guess Lineage 2, which had a well deserved reputation for having the most demanding "grind" of any MMO, needed a little dumbing down. After all, it's no secret that the industry ramblings of late place considerable concern at NCSoft with Lineage 2's "western" subscription numbers, particularly the slump in North America.
I just hope to God this "dumbing down" of MMOs isn't a trend -- it will give "WoW Clone" a whole new meaning.
As for typos and grammatical errors mentioned above, it bothers me as well. I complained about it and was told, in this forum, that they cannot do a better job.
I don't think Gracia really dumbed down Lineage 2, I think it just made it more interesting to play. It's just like how musicians sometimes changes their style of music to get new fans. Sure, some people are going to call them sell outs, but they are going to get a lot of new fans.
And for the seplling and grammatical errors...stop being so stuck up. Its a game article written by someone who isn't getting paid for it. They pay 15 dollars a month for two articles, give the guy a break Mr. Perfect.

If I remember correctly, anyone that’s played the game for over a year can send you a trial code via email that will reactivate your account for 14 days. Feel free to drop me a PM with your email info and I can submit the necessary forms for you.
I still play L2, and have been pretty impressed with the changes that came with Gracia. I’m still on the fence when it comes to the new “common items”, but the rest of it has raised my opinion of the game.
As stated in the article, the new Vitality System has really made a big difference. Those of us that have lives outside the game can now get into the higher levels without having to build toilets into our desk chairs. They’ve also been adding a lot of features over the last several updates to help new players get out of the starter towns and into the mix without weeks of tedious grinding.
If I had to gripe, my biggest problem with the game is the lack of North American advertising. NCSoft has really put a lot of work into improving the game, but hardly anyone knows about it here because they simply don't promote it enough.
