the game is fair to about level 50 then leveling slow down ,yes i baught item in store but it is slow!but i ainnt replying to this thread about that! sadly this game has the same issue it has always had!gameguard!i am not against game protection all have it ,yes even wow! but an amateurish solution like gameguard hell no!if you use say wasd too fast!gameguard prevent you !if you use spam skill too quick ,gameguard prevent you .you move too long in one direction and turn around and go the other way another while ,gameguard wont recall how you were positioned and will put you to last known position!i am all for understanding etc!but this clearly is interntional!the only reason gameguard act like this is because gameguard is sending said data live to korea!and waiting for reply!are they kidding me!why not senf the gameguard data to usa server dam it,it doesnt make sense! i gave them 40$ to buy stuff!and it wasnt worth the trouble!wow is 10 time this game is !some will say use point and clic!it doesnt make a difference if you are too fast gameguard prevent you !this is called cheating, the only difference is its at the ncsoft end ! i wont play aion or guild wars 2 either!ncsoft had almost 10 years to fix this !10 YEARS! i am done with this !i get out spend my hard hearned money on swtor !full of problem i go l2 again issue that should have been fixed years ago , i dont say boot gameguard!i say :FIND AND FIX THE ISSUE !this isnt hard gees, just send gameguard on ncsoft server use the copy outside of korea get and connect locally in korea but with gameguard sending info to usa you ll see right away what the issue is gees! i ll go back to wow! at least i know gameplay is smooth! |

Only problem is that all the new poop that has been released so far can't compare. They claim to be MMO's, but most seem to be single player co-op's. Would I go back to L2; not in a heart beat first off the L2 devs are now Blue Hole studios and secondly as i said played from release for 4 and a half years. |

L2 is the epitome of what was wrong with asian grinders. Some may call it a masterpiece, however typically masterpieces are replicated, immitated, and may will attempt to do it. The L2 model of mmorpg stayed with L2. No one ever tried to redo it for a reason. In fact, if im not mistaken L2 attempted to emulated other games that were fairing better.
Regardless...theres a reason not even korean game makers attempt to recreate the insane grind, horrible movement and functionality that L2 offerd. |

I just installed this last night and played for a few hours, I actually did not see any gold spam in game, (probably got lucky after reading other posts), and aside from the controls I really didnt have any issue with the game. I actually really enjoyed the game myself. I may play it until the few games im waiting on get released or I get hooked on it. Still not something I would abandon just because im not used to the controls. |

Its very easy to point negative views about L2, allways was. Even for me, i play L2 and is the best mmorpg i ever played / try it (i didnt play all games around), i can write a wall of text only saying bad things about the game. But i real love the "mmo" elements of L2. Simple features that make all the diference for me: - The political system - The PK system (even is a little harsh nowadays) - The only game i like to grind. Maybe because was design for that i really enjoy grinding here, dont like in most of the other games. - The economy - The world is just amazing well design, the class's, the races.
And im the so called a casual player, 2 or 3h a day is the max i can play. i need 2months to do something others do in 1 week. :) Note: i awekened 2 days ago (Iss enchanter), toke me 2 months, most of ppl do it in 1 or 2 weeks. |

Developers forgot what made mmos special. Until we get that back the genre wont move forward. |

@Jabas
Congratulations on hitting 85 and awakening. Lineage 2 is a special type of game unlike anything else out there. I have an awakened Pheo Wizard and now making a Tyr Warrior. I dont play as hardcore as I use to but I still play and enjoy the game. What server you on?

My thoughts exactly, I played this game during open beta and for a period after. I couldn't handle the grind and be able to have a social life, and worklife (I admit it just too damn hardcore). Otherwise it was probably one of the best games I've ever played of all time. Why would anyone care about your first impressions of a game that is almost a decade old? Anyone who is playing this knows it's a niche game for people into hardcore PvP and a hardcore grind. It's kind of the bread and butter. Oh and there used to be a time in MMO history where not every game had the exact same control scheme so stop whining. |

You know, in all these years, i have never heard anyone mention what it is exactly that draws them to this game. Why Lineage2? Ok i get it, its graphics where top notch at launch. But why now? What does this game do well...why the draw why do you like it. What does lineage 2 do diffrently or better than other games, why play it over others. Help me understand WHY? |

Originally posted by Crunchy221 1st: The political system and the world. I really like the way is implemented here and interfer with my gameplay. When i go to some hunting zone for quest or only grind i have to deal with other players. They interfer with my experience, sometimes in a bad way, other in a good way. Sometimes i cant even do my quest, or even get a grinding spot. For some ppl this could be a gamebreaker, but it isnt for me, its the result of having a world where relations with other players matters.
2nd: PK/PvP with rules. Yes, L2 is FFA pvp but have some rules so we dont find random PK's around, in last 3 months i was killed 1 time for a random PK. Normally when someone go for PK or PVP it as a motive, normally related on my 1st point.
3rd: I dont mind grinding Yes its true, i dont mind grinding in L2. I like to kill stuff so i dont mind do it, and if im bored i just stop and go do other things or stop playing. Never had hurry to reach next level, just trying to enjoy the hunting zone im in and the company of other players if im in group. Normally i dont like grinding in others games i have be playing and questing is start to be even more boring for me then the pure grinding.
4rd: Its F2P now and no need of the CS. I dont play it because is F2P but i need to mentioned this: I play it as F2P now and i dont need nothing from CS and still enjoy all the game without any restrictions.
But im allways ready to try other games, so if someone know other game with the 1st and 2nd point with fantasy theme and top quality animations (yes, i need this) i will try it.
Edit: I didnt mentioned Territory wars and Sieges because i dont participate in that yet, i will start that at my lvl 86 (im 85 atm). |

Originally posted by Mannish s/are/have been/ L2 has been changed to Aion, for all I know. Class diversity removed and getting the exact same 8 classes as those from Aion. So yeah, personally I have no motive to play L2 anymore. I consider Aion a dumbed down Lineage and I dont want to play that. |

Originally posted by Adamantine You right about the class's, the class system on GoD end with the diversity of class's on L2 (for me was a really bad decision). Still Imo: AION is a great GAME but poor MMO. AION is only about personal scores and archivements. L2 is a great MMO and still a great game. No need to repeate the MMO elements of L2 allready mentioned on this threath.

Well I guess I must add my 2 cents worth... Been playing L2 again for a couple of weeks now and I am amazed that I am already lvl 34! This game is not even the same game as it was when I last played it over 4-5 yrs ago. They really took away the grind and the lvl cap is now 99. The starting area as well as all the towns I have re-visited are totally different. I'm sure the grind will kick in eventually but so far I have gained a lvl with each quest I have done so far. They even added an auction house! Used to it took forever to lvl up and when you died you could actually lose your levels. When last I played I thought I'd check out the Player killing aspect of the game and before I knew what was going on I was labeled a murderer and could not even go to any towns lest I be hunted down like a hydrophobic dog and went from lvl 30ish all the way down to like lvl 10 before I finally gave up and uninstalled! You can still lose xp but you won't lose lvls now and the player kill aspect of the game is still pretty harsh...you have to grind mobs to reduce your pk points and there are people around whose sole purpose is to kill anyone and everyone they can simply for the enjoyment of it. The sad part is that they did a great thing removing the hellish grind that was in the old L2 but I gotta say even though there still is a great game here it used to have a lot more substance than it does now in it's current state. Crafting is pretty much useless since you can get free gear after lvl 40 and you can hit lvl 40+ pretty quickly now. I am already lvl 34 and I only have played a couple of weekends and only 3-4 hrs after work before bedtime about every other evening through like 3 weeks. There is an excellent guide on our clans website that pretty much narrows down exactly what you need to do and what you want to NOT do to maximize the lvling process...Can't wait to get involved with the politics and castle sieges, wars and clan vs clan aspects of the game. I actually am becoming quite addicted to the new L2 and I don't really know why... weird, ..I just can't explain it...I am starting to kinda figure out the economy and there is actually a lot of intricacies to it (is that even a word? lol.) --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Guess I could post some of the guide from our clan site just to give those interested in lvling up an idea of how it has been simplified..... Let me start by reminding everyone below level 40 to get Blessing of Protection along with your buffs. It will keep you safe from PKers, as there are many people like the idea to Pk in the low level areas. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is about where I'm at right now and I would say around 20 hrs into the game from a newly created Warrior class char. Thanks to our Clan Leader for this most excellent lvling guide!!! |

Originally posted by Adamantine Uhhh 8 classes?? not anymore here is the class trees for each race available and there is a TON of them! and don't ask me how you get them all cause right now I feel like a total nooblet and it is a great feeling and one I havent had in a very long time... Maybe it is this feeling that is addicting me to the game as most every game I have played the last 5 yrs or so has all pretty much been exactly the same only with differnt graphics and/or art direction. Gameplay being the same |

Originally posted by Wrender Yes Wrender, L2 is now about 8 class's. The old diversity of class still exist from 1 to 84 but then at 85 u awake to one of the 8 final class's. We can only find a little diferences between races. I only know ISS Enchanter for now and love it. Soon i will know how it is Feoh Wizard too. But L2 is still about group content (86+) in pve or pvp so i dont see much interferience on gameplay with this new class model. |
