Both will end in same class after awakening (lvl 85). My advice is pick the race you like it more. In general: Dark elfs: more power, less cast speed Elfs: More cast speed, less power.

SE's get; Empower, Focus, VR and Death Whisper... EE's get; Holy Weapon, Decrease Weight, Agility and Bless Shield and a better Rez(not that it matters much these days). I was thinking EE's got Haste or Acumen like Prophets do, but apparently they don't...
