Life''s a bitch and one day you marry one.............

Dear ladies and gents,

I was browsing the site a few days ago and then I saw the announcement that Lineage 2 will be ftp somewhere in November/December.  As I am looking for a new game to play and I have a week off coming up really soon I was wondering if it would be worth it to start playing Lineage 2. I am eu based so at first I thought the EU server would be the place to be but now I have read they relocated the server to the US so maybe the US server is worth considering as well then.

The reason why I post here is as I read the Lineage 2 guru forums I more or less got the same feeling which I have when reading EQ2 flames being very newcomer unfriendly.  Are there still clans out there willing to take newcomer under their wings and teach them the ropes?  I like to pvp every once in a while but I can also enjoy a PVE raid.  How is the pve in Lineage ?  Are there nice dungeons/instances or is it more or less grinding till you drop dead?

Thanks in advance.

Have a nice day!

Players come for the game, but they stay for the people- Most Devs have forgotten this.

I am no vet, but the way I am looking at it i why would I want to join a top heavy twinked out pre existing server in a competitive game like this only a couple of weeks before they are revamping it hard? Unless your playing the trial just to see if you like the feel of the game I don't ee how that will be a pleasurable experience.

I would imagine most newbs will head to the fresh servers and that sounds good to me :)

IMHO.... regardless of EU or US, wait for the new servers :)

I've got a level 65 on one of the old US servers (i think; it's been a while) and i know i'm roling on the new server/s.

RIP Ribbitribbitt you are missed, kid.

Currently Playing EVE, POTBS
Liked but retired: EQ1,SWTOR, FFXI, WoW, TERA, Aion, L2, EQ2, LOTRO, atlantica, Rift, Darkfall, though i felt it needed tweaks
Looking forward to: World of Darkness, Archeage, Titan

Recommendation of a game you probably haven't tried: POTBS, Atlantica, L2

According to this: http://www.lineage2.com/gd/play-your-way.html

"The service offering will be different between Innova and NCsoft West"

You might want to wait until these differences in the service are known.

I assumed that they were just refering to the fact that the new EU servers would be a seperate service offered by a different company, rather then being different in what they are actually offering 'physically'.

Your post has made me think though.

I can't see Innova straying from the Ncsoft template in terms of the cash shop and updates though tbh, I personlly think Innova are just hosting the servers from a percentage of the CS revenue they generate, but I agree rereading this does suggest a possibility otherwise.

Reading the statement in the link fully though, it is an unusual way of doing it... Innova just getting the new and returning EU players that want a fresh restart and NCsoft retaining the existing EU player base... pretty savvy of them tbh.

There will be IP block for no EU gamers, so we have no option but to wait till the US release.

Wich is a shame cus Tera will probaly be out till then anyways.

I never tryed this one. thought about it for a day or 2 but never bought the box .im board right now wit nothing to play cuz im sick to death of all my games.

who gives a crap if i can have the game free in 2 weeks . im going against my own advice and playing now . this way i see if its pure crap befor theres a mass wave of new players clogging up the entire nubbie area.

My advice sucked , No one should ever listen to me.

I played the game for awhile with some friends. I found it very fun. The game has an absolutely enormous amount of different classes lol. was something insane like 36.

It is very mob grind oriented though you can do some quests. Most of the quests tend to be very Epic-esque from the olden days. As you level you pick the class you want to be and do job quests to become that class. The first one isnt bad. takes a few hours. Though at level 40 the second job change is crazy long. It comes in 3 parts and each part takes like 8 hours to do. Its pretty wild. If you like older games youll probably love it. If you want instant gratification... Do not touch it with a 50ft pole. xD.

I really recomend the game :)

best wishes

Since Freya, or Hellbound all 3 parts of any class transfer were halfed an insane ammount, so you can do the 2class transfer in under 8 hours.

Since GOD. The 3 part thing was deleted, you get one quest to kill 20 or 40 mobs ( it will take you up to 20minutes) =  And woala you transfered.

it was 2 am befor i had the client installed last night, i was downloading as i typed this . i didnt get to Play for real till this afternoon .

Myself i dont like the game , It looks great , nice size maps , its a very clean game . But not being able to put the game setting the way i want them in its self turned me off on this one. i like to pay games in window mode , 99% of the time im playing more than 1 game at a time .

I may have missed something but i also could not find a way to activate WASD movement , I myself have a hell of a time getting used to a game thats lacking WASD movement .

Oh ya and the nerator sucks the dudes so mono tone . OH ...... TOO .... BAD ..... YOU ...... HAVE ..... DIED ...... 3 hours in and i wanted to find a shot that voice actor.

it was awsome that i could try on and even use " with heavy penelties " weapons for much much hugher lvls . It was just cool to beable to see not what they look like in your bag but to really get to use them.

I dont like this game not becouse its a crappy game but becouse it doesnt fit me . 100% personal .

you can play the game in windowed.

The game is click to move and has always been click to move. They added some sort fo arrow movement at one time but it was clunky.

Having said that, I think they are adding wasd in the huge update.

I think you can turn off any voice narration. It was never there years back but I remember seeing something recently (I think this is the case) where you can turn off voices.

If you dont mind and click back to this post can you tell me where the Window mode opption is? like i said i only hate the game beings i cant play it in the style im used to . with window mode and a pending WASD movement i would give this game a fair shake

Press alt+enter for window mode. And you have to get used to the click to move style. Its very hard to play it with wasd even IF they put a solid working wasd-movement. The game, in the later levels, is just so fast-paced that its pretty much impossible to be using the F-keys and move at the same time. Using 3/4 skills within a second is not something unusual in this game.

Window mode makes a hell of a differance , I wont understand why its not a opption in the screen res set up ?  It will be a hard adjustment not having WASD but with window mode i may still play this as a alt game when i Just dont feel like the same old crap over and over again.

FYI i did find a turn off tutorial opption that seams to have also turned of that dam narator
