The thing that scared me off is the prices and the whole economy. I also had trouble selling my stuff because there's no auction house. I would set up shop, go to work and come back to find i had been disconnected about 1-2 hours after leaving.

I was thinking i could make a scarvenger and sell the mats i gather to buy stores. Also with some research i prolly could find out where the mats for X armor drop and farm them and then make it at a private creation store.

I guess i didn't actually make this into a question.

Do you think leveling a scarvenger and selling the mats i get would help me gear up, possibly solo?

No it won't. Not long term. You're forgetting that spoil and crafting are level related. Whilst you can sell individual mats well enough throughout the game, its the end game items that ppl want. Keep in mind the game is 3 yrs old and you need to be able to cater to the "general" player demand. Whilst there is some money to be made in the lower grades the real income comes from A and S grade where the population bell curve is at its peak.

To make money on A and S grade equipment you have to effectively level your character AND obtain the recipes. The A and S grade recipes when / if you eventually get there require group if not clan effort to obtain and use effectively.

For example the Ketra Orc/Varka Silenos alliance quest for S grade recipes requires you to conduct a massive multistage collection quest as well as killing some lv 70+ raidbosses which you will need a clan for.

There is no need for auction houses as this interferes with the game design concept of a free economy. Players are encouraged to play off the supply and demand fluctuations.  This is an important part of the L2 economy and it puts the player and their mental agility behind the k/b rather than providing a game engine interface to do the trading for you. Its not new player friendly and not something that you can do as a past time. This is what ppl refer to as "playing the economy" and it takes a lot of real time, it requires an understanding of the market as well as taking the right steps in enabling oneself not only to buy and sell goods but to enhance them as necessary IOT maximise profit.

Bottom line, you need to join a clan.

Most clans will have some of the answers you are looking for on their forums. For others they will direct you to where you can research the information. If you can't sell stuff because of your connection, your clannies will happily do it for you and give it to you when you log in next time. Broaden your options, L2 is not a solo game :)

I didn't mean to make money for the sake of making money. I meant to sell some normal mats to pay for soulshots and to gather mats for my own leveling gear. Something in the lines of "brigandine" or whatever it's called or blue wolf when i get there. Not to sell but to use.

You're telling me S grade requires raid bosses and i understand that. I'll prolly need to look into that when i get to those levels but i have a lot of time between here and then.

I can't keep a connection up long enough to sell anything at a sell shop so i'm stuck using buy shops and the prices there just arent the same. That's why i talked about auction houses.

My goal here is to be able to provide for my own needs. I don't like relying on others.

Well, listen, obviously things like varhish or coal or whatever are needed. I think you would be able to sell those, especially if you had a lot. And I understand not wanting to rely on others. However this game really is about clan and alliance. Otherwise there is not much to the game. It's about people.

so I do highly suggest that you join a clan or clan academy. Also there are ways that the game helps you like beng able to upgrade your weapons to better weapons at certain shops (just lower lvl to D grade I believe) as well as tne new shadow weapons (essentially it allows you to buy weapons that degrade but it does allow you to get higher lvl stuff.)

Listen, it's a hard game and it does require you to be proactive. Though I also had the disconnect problem, I don't seem to get this anymore (unless the server goes down) so it might be better for you.

I mentioned S grade as a snapshot of where you're heading to. However, in hindsight I should have used a D or C grade example. It doesn't really matter I guess as it appears you have made your choice.

I wish you well, I just hope that you don't burn out before you work out that L2 is all about relying on others ;)

Do yourself a favor and start with 1 month for a test.

DO NOT get a subscription unless you find yourself hooked to this game.

(I pulled the plug recently on the first of my 3 accounts. And I have seen alot as a first release subscriber.)

Scavenger eh... Well you can try to outsell mister and miss bot-alot ofcourse, I guess....

Just look before you jump in.

I've checked some crafting tables.

I thought i would get the mats for the stuff i wanted easily and by the level i can use them. Brig helm key mats drop off some 40 mob and only 1/200. No spoils drop em.

So much for lineage, i guess i'd be stuck playing wow again.

Well, first off, you don't have to buy Brig. Seriously. You can get a set much, much cheaper that is almost as good. Just level dilligently and you will be in C grade in no time.

Don't feel or give in to the feeling that you have to be in top grade as soon as you hit that grade or that using armor or weapon that is slightly less quality will seriously gimp you. Especially as you start out and move through C and B grade.

Just get into an academy and ask for an Oath set for D grade, and focus on getting a composite armor when you reach ~50 (i'd get a decent C grade weapon before to farm faster) Mats required to craft brigandine parts can go over 2M perfectly, for that money you'd be better getting a good C grade armor.

As the previous poster said, don't focus on getting top grade as soon as you reach the level, you can do 1-30 with no grade, and now, with all the shadow weapons and what not, you can easy get to 40 without spending money that you will need later on. Don't rush selling mats also, you'll always find a better shop, or even better, a higher demand, or you could always save them for you to use later on. Do the quests that give soulshots, they will ease your trip a lot, and, check if there are quests for wherever you're hunting, i know they don't give too much, but at lower levels they sure help you a bit.

No, it's impossible or just completely not worth the effort to "solo" L2. Unless you buy adena with RL cash and use that to get your gear. The grind is far too insane, and that's just to get to 7x...after76+...even in a perfect group in the perfect spawn, you'll crawl at a phenominal 0.5%/hour if you're lucky. If you have a buff pet train, and some mages, you could go to town and push 2%...but yea...that isnt soloing,,,

Hi, welcome to Lineage 2. Whether you know it or not you have just identified the single largest flaw in L2's design: material drop rates. I won't grind my
