This game must be severely underfunded, for it to have taken them this long to get around to Rohan.  I wonder if it has to do with the Tolkien Empire licensing deal.

Maybe that's why they went F2P despite being relatively successful.  It just wasn't enough success to make a real profit.

They'll get atleast 4 years of hyped players from the hobbit movies I think.  Sat Sep 08 2012 7:23AM Report

The Hobbit movies are unlikely to get them a lot of customers unless they suddenly start licensing the assets of the films.  which their budget won't allow, even if it's all under WB's umbrella.  For whatever reason, movies coming out don't really generate much interest in pre-existing games in the same IP.

Getting half of Rohan now, not even the interesting half, is very disappointing.  They've totally squandered the best fantasy IP out there.  And it's all the designers faults.  It was never a big hit and obviously wasn't turning a decent profit by the time MoM was released.  Since MOM they released a semi-expansion, announced the F2P switch with an expansion releasing a full year after the announcment.  By the time  RoI was released, they had lost most of their hard core raiding population due to waiting so long for content and no longer getting the promised, regular updates.

At this point their pricing plan is a greedy, gouging approach.  They've become a pretty despicable developer at this point just ttrying to squeeze every last dollar out of their remaining fans.

It's just another example of a company focusing on the short term gain and throwing away their own reputation and potential returning customer base.
