I have no doubt that it's going to be a great game for many, but I can't help noticing that LOTRO is really "borrowing" quite a few gameplay elements from another, more popular MMORPG if I could put it that way :)

I wish they would have done something a little more interesting for crafting in LOTRO, but whatcha gonna do. It's probably the most blatantly ripped part of the game.
You figure they'd be focusing on telling people about titles, music, PvMP, story instances, or something that wasn't exactly the same as WOW.

for the love of god people, not everything is a rip of WoW. Even if the crafting system is similar, there were many other similar crafting systems before WoW, it is not the first, and nowhere near the best MMO

how many different ways can you craft a weapon? "hey, we're gonna do something DIFFERENT. something you haven't seen before. we're gonna shove this here sword up this here ass and create a crappy sword for ya. how's ya like that for new?"

JustBa, you have to realize that a large percentage of people now days have never seen anything but WoW, there are a ton of fools out there who actually think WoW was the first one, so everything else in their minds is a copy of it...
As for the crafting its self, it's ok... Critical success master crafted items are only a point or two worse than quested, though that leaves also Epic quested weapons strill lacking. They have yet to put any real effort into crafting, it's currently more something to satiate a player market moreso than actually to offer anything of real value to the player base. If you want to craft do so but if you want decent gear, you still have to quest.

What a brilliand idea. I wonder how the creators came up with it. We could also see in the movie how exciting the gathering resources is. And the crafting itself. LOT OF FUN. Really... We have a great example why they should forbid to create games based on movies/books. Ppl will play every crap if it has a good name. Hype meter of this "game" is best proof for that.

heh,not unique but then again...It isnt different from everyother MMORPG out there huh?the only innovative thing I could come up with is if you actually created it with the movement of the mouse..just an idea though.

And this is different from World of Warcraft...how? If they're going to try to pull away WoW gamers, they ain't gonna do it by offering more of the same.

LOTRO is better than WoW, I was in beta and even that was better than WoW. But of course LOTRO doesn't have a free server yet so I'm playin' WoW...on a free server of course. ^^
