  • UI Updates and Echoes of the Dead Screen

    Turbine has released several new screenshots of the UI changes to come in Update 2 headed for release soon. In addition, the first screenshot from Book 3: Echoes of the Dead has been released.

  • Changes to Legendary Items Dev Blog

    Players have long called for adjustments to Lord of the Rings Online legendary items system. In a new dev blog authored by Turbine's Ken "Graalx2" Burd and Brian "Zombie Columbus" Aloisio, the secret is out that Update 2 will see some significant changes to the system and the relics system. The team will be implementing something called "Legacy Replacement Scrolls" that will help players best match their play style with the legacies that complement them the best.

  • Monster Play Dev Diary

    One of the most controversial systems in Lord of the Rings Online is Monster Play. Monster Play, or PvMP is the LOTRO equivalent of PvP and players have long called for better incentives to actually participate, complaining that the incentives weren't good enough which reduced the number of players engaged in PvMP. Turbine's Jared Pruett has penned a new dev blog about changes coming to monster play with Update 2.

  • Radiance: Good Intentions Gone Bad

    A new developer diary from Turbine's Allan 'Orion' Maki discusses Radiance in Lord of the Rings Online. He begins by saying something along the lines of "our intentions were good but it went horribly wrong". From there, Maki discusses why Radiance has been removed from the game and opens the door on the possibility that reworked Radiance will be returned to the game at some future point.

  • Character Panel Changes

    In another Turbine dev blog post in the continuing avalanche of material being produced as Update 2 nears, Tim "Raskolnikov" Lang writes about changes coming to the character panel. Acknowledging that the character panel has turned into a "rat's nest" over the years, Lang details changes the team has in mind including moving the cosmetic panels into their own UI panel.

  • Hunter Dev Diary

    Turbine's Brian 'Zombie Columbus' Aloisio has penned a new dev diary about the Hunter class, what he calls the most "straightforward class" in Lord of the Rings Online. But straightforward doesn't mean that the class doesn't need some love and Aloisio has outlined the team's goals for the Hunter class when Update 2 arrives.

  • Valentine's Screenshot Contest

    Turbine and the Lord of the Rings Online team have announced a screenshot contest for Valentine's Day. Players are asked to take a screenshot showing off the season of love in game and accompany it with a hundred word (or less) description.

  • Bonus Weekend

    Turbine has announced that the upcoming weekend will net Lord of the Rings Online players an extra 5% bonus XP and that monsters have the chance of dropping tokens that can be traded at special in-game vendors.

  • Helping the Mischief Makers

    Ken "Graalx2" Burd has penned a new Lord of the Rings Online blog post in which he lays out issues that fans feel the Burglar class faces. Burd discusses seven critical changes to the Burglar class in the coming months including power regeneration, more speed when 'stealthed' and including the ability to get into "Mischief" stance during battle.

  • Dev Team Responds to Weekend Outage

    Turbine and the Lord of the Rings Online team have posted a response to a universal outage of all forums and LOTRO. According to the post, both the main and backup systems went down. At this time, Turbine is working with the systems operator to ensure it doesn't happen again. In addition, there are plans in the works for the upcoming weekend to help smooth customers' ruffled feathers.

    Lord of the Rings Online heroes may want to swing by the official site to check out a new letter that has surfaced from Oatbarton resident, Bungo Grubb. In his letter, the diminutive farmer expresses his dismay at a recent wilting of his award winning pipe weed crop for unexplained and mysterious reasons.

    Turbine devs have announced the 'Design-A-Horse Contest' for artsy players. Devs have provided a template for players to use and the winning entry will be included in the game after a future update. Additionally, a game code for the horse will be given to booth visitors at next year's PAX East convention.
