I would like that i mage class was added to lotro... not just a lore master, but a mage like gandalf or saruman, not as powerfull as they are but a kinda wow mage, the could cast some arcane or dark spells and have big dps and low defense, a real caster |

Won't happen. The Istari are the mages of LotR. |

yep..420 pot smoker guy in the "omg what happened to the lore?" would go apeshit....seriously..seeing as how there are only a few true "magic users" in the books, they can't allow for it too much..sorry..too bad Tolkien couldn't foresee the making of a MMO before he wrote his books..rofl! As it is, turbine is already pushing the limits of the books by creating the classes they have..we are lucky to not all be weilding swords with no abilities to heal except a handful of kingfoil :) |

Lore Master is your best bet, right now. But they said in one of the dev chats a while ago they are working on new player classes! So who knows. |

Cowards die many times before they truly perish, yet the valiant only taste death but once. |
It would be nice to see the LM go more mage like though. |

I think the LM is pretty mage like already. It's probably one of the few things Turbine has done that has made me scratch my head and go "ehhhh, probably not." That said, I think the class is pretty sweet. |

I will agree that my first run thru LOTRO during the trial...the LM class turned me off because I was expecting the "elementalist/mage" type skills and I was like WTF? But I enjoyed the game none-the-less and started with a Minstrel instead. Now I have made an alt LM and I understand the utility of the class and see how it better fits the LOTR environment. |

Classes they could add or are adding.... Priest of some sort which they are adding. Shaman of some sort which they are adding. Druid of some sort which they could add and have them be elves only. Could be a full blown pet class or could be the "mage" like class people are asking for. They could be designed to tap into the "magic" and other tricks used by the elves of Mirkwood forest.
Necros, Enchanters, Mages, etc... they are not going to add for sure. |

The problem I see with making this game strictly based on lore, is you know where it is headed and then what? no more content? This way of development is very restrictive thus taking some of the things people enjoy out of the game. I play this game right now it is a lot better since I first started when it came out, but there is little left to imagination since it is strictly based on lore. I still have hopes for this game, but I don't know how good it will be doing when other games come out this year. |

Originally posted by wicked357 That is the price Turbine pays for using an IP from Tolkien Enterprises, especially since they purchased the literary license rather than the movie license. That game is what the game is, and due to the restriction of the license it will not be everything to everyone. This won't be changed unless you can convince the court systems that copyrights, contractual agreements, and the essence of the legal system be change, but the good news is that in the US the president is trying very hard to do those things. |

The Runekeeper (Runemaster?) in Mines of Moria, they have stated will be a TRUE magic using class. This will more than likely be the closest thing you will get to a mage in this game.
Farewell.

All of you who think that the lotr lore sets a limit to the expansion of the game, go read all of Tolkiens writings that concern middle earth. The game right now is nearly all what is mentioned in the first book. We'll probably get some The Hobbit instances at some point, a bigger pvmp zone in gondor / moria. |
