I would sub to LOTRO tomorrow if they would make changes to one thing.
The character generator. It's so old and tacky. It doesn't have anywhere near enough options, and the final result is a plastic looking distorted blob thing with rubber legs. If they brought the character generator up to date so that I could make a reasonable looking character I would subscribe, and I would very likely subscribe for a very long time, because the rest of the game is very good. |

Actually, I just wish they worked a bit more on their animations. I mean, they've gotten better, you can see it in the expansion content, but the old stuff looks kind of bad in comparison now. Not really a deal breaker, just saying. I would like to see a much better housing system put in though than the one they kind of shoehorned in. Debating playing it again. Dragon Age has kind of put me in the mood for LoTRO's style again, and siege of mirkwood is coming out, but I dunno as ironically I would likely end up ignoring either Dragon Age or LoTRO if I started both of them at the same time. . I would take a guess that this is the same people that make Dungeons and dragons online as they seem to have same weird ideas when it comes to the human shape. Human characters for instance look like stick insects, arms and legs to long with thin tubular body and as for the rubber legs............well, I think they could have taken a bit more care when creating the animation for this, atm it looks quite moronic. I like my character to look the part especially if I am going to spend days questing for good looking gear for it.
There is also very little customization, most characters are running around looking like clones. I would suppose that they would have to write a whole new game to bring the character generator up to date, and that would be the reason they have not already done it. |

I gotta agree with Bloodworth here. Sure the facial customization options lack with SWG or AoC has but there are still a heck of a lot more options than you get with most MMOs. And like he said, the cosmetic clothing slots are pure genius when it comes character customization. Not even UO let you wear clothes purely for the way they looked without affecting your armor and how many other games have a full on dye system? My characters are all rather unique looking and I have absolutely never come across another character who looks like my main either in exact hair/facial hair/hair color or in his current "outfit". As for the the way the humans and other races look, I think LOTRO's are the absolute best behind SWG and AoC and just by a tiny bit. I also quite like the running and walking animations for each of the races which I find rather unique and smooth. Could they use more cosmetic clothing options? Sure. But for now you'd be hard-pressed to find a better system in a fantasy MMO.(Obviously excluding the Superhero MMOS).

Overall I like LotRO, but I find the character models probably THE weakest part of the game. I really wish they would address them after they get SoM working right. |

I remember looking at the list of skills you develop as you advance and thinking they were pretty sparse. I'd find out later that many of your higher level abilities stem from deeds and the legendary books. Revamping and shortening the starter areas got just enough hook in me, though. From there I was on long enough to learn more about the broad nature of advancement in LotRO. 7 months later, this is the longest I've been with an mmo in 4 years. I don't see myself leaving anytime soon. |

I must be the only person that thinks my LOTRO character looks pretty decent. You people are crazy. I've been registered here a long time, I read daily. I just don't have much to say. |

Both QFT! When I want a change in my toons look I just change one of my cosmetic looks and/or head to barbershop... It would be nice if they improved overall charater movement,, still not a deal breaker for me, but some (like hobbits) look silly when you are walking; again not a deal breaker. |

I would actually sub if... 1. They stop using a rehauled old engine that DDO ran on. 2. Group play, is there any need to group in this game ? None because now its being made to solo. 3. Be a part of Frodos expedition to Mount Doom. Be able to play the Mordor side. 4. Needs more immersion, the world is dull and boring. You don't even get chased by a group of ring wraiths. 5. Combat is just average. If I didn't know any better, all the did was read up on the ip, creat something that might resembled middle earth and slap a pricetag on it. |

I would subscribe if they had actually released the game they promised they were releasing, you k now, Middle Earth Online? Instead of gutting it, changing the name a few months before beta, and then releasing a WoW clone to be safe.
Oh, and the combat is reallly bad. |

And tell me that people would actually play this game if it didnt have the Lotro ip to it. Its nothing more than WoW clone with the lotro iup attatched to it. Hardly anything to be excited about unless you are one of those dihards who looks through those rose-colored glasses. Atleast the Torchlight mmo will not be a WoW clone. |

Originally posted by SaintViktor Gotta pretty much agree, I would play if they did something more to differentiate them self from the rest. While their story system sounds intriguing it also sounds as if its not a major part of the game. It sounds like just another, title chasing, achievement based theme-park with raiding being the endgame. Please tell me I am wrong if I am but from everything I have read (only played open beta, and a few trials) sounds like this is the just of the game.
