"As you think, so shall you become" |
Ok I just started playing LOTRO. I was intrigued with titles you get for reaching certain levels without dying. If you make it to level 20 you get the title "The Undying" god thats cool. Now that said, I have played almost every class to level 10-14 and then I die trying to do the Blackwold quests in North Chetwood. I'm about sick of the game now because it doesnt seem like I can solo ALL the quests and I don't know which ones are soloable or not. Am I putting to much pressure on myself for something that has ZERO impact on my character besides looking like a bad ass? Im at the point of quitting what i thought would be the MMO to hold me over until WAR, but after repeating levels 1-12 four or five times, the game is making me sick. And before you say its because I suck, that is not the case. I just think im trying to do quests my level that are impossible to solo until I outlevel the mobs. So yea any tips or links to leveling guides would help me in giving it one last chance. Oh yea the classes I havent played yet are Minstrel, Burglar, and Champion. I rerolled the left over classes twice trying to get this title.

Dont put so much pressure on yourself and relax. It makes the game much more enjoyable. Forget the title theres other ones that are cooler. Like Enemy of the Dead, Bane of the Burrows or Enemy of the Night Etc. Plus there are other ppl that have undying so its not a big deal Dont let it be a game breaker. |

I got so much |
Many many players have the undying title (including me) but people rarely display it ... There is so many titles you can earn.... like Troll slayer , Shire Brewmaster , the clumsy ....etc so just move on...there is so much more to see and do... |

If you are that worried about it, do the few quests in archet or the dwarf starting area then head to the shire, you can get to level 10ish easily without killing but a couple mobs. 10-17 or 18 fairly easy finishing up shire quests then nab a couple of the first easy quests at the forsaken inn. In all honesty, the Undying title is neat your first time but after that it wears off. Alot out there have it and just dont have it showing simply because there are alot better titles out there. |

Originally posted by XImpalerX Some people like this title and it is a goal...if it is a goal then go for it. If you are doing it because you think people will think you are somehow a good or better player then forget about it. I know a lot of players who don't like players that are going for undying because when things get rough they run away during the fight to try and keep their chance at their precious title. As for not know which quests are solo or not, how about looking at your quest log where it tells you whether they are solo, small fellowship, fellowship or raid. And my suggestion, play Mini...they are a blast. |

Why would you care about having the title "Undying" when you can have a title like"Pie Eating Champion Instead". A much cooler title IMO. |

Game hopping since 2003. |
Anyone would be bored after repeating the same content 5 times in such a small time period. Fellowship quests are usually indicated by a funny little icon in your quest log that looks like three bubbles but is suppose to be 3 heads (asin a group). You dont have to do every quest, its a good feeling when you've done every quest but you can always come back to them - its a much better feeling when youre lvl 50 :P My heart sinks the first time I die on a new character but in the grand scheme of things its not a big deal, there are factors outside your control (fps lag, net lag, linkdead) that could easily wreck an undying attempt. First time I quit LOTRO was because I was dying constantly, in retrospect I chose a minstrel that is an impossibly difficult first character. Im having a complete blast as a champion and can kill oranges. Since you haven't tried champion I highly recommend it (before you write the game off), theyre tough as nails with uber dps so its a good laugh. There are no levelling guides im afraid, people also seem to duo constantly - if you can make a friend that is a complementary class then a lot of the difficulty youre facing will be avoided and if your duo friend is an experienced player than they will mentor you (so to speak). LOTRO has so much to do that its easy to get sidetracked or indeed obsessed with deeds etc. Its easy to forget that at the end of the day its an mmo and your goal is to lvl up and for a lot of people lvling up the fastest way possible gives them the greatest enjoyment. If you're not enjoying your playstyle then try mixing things up a bit. I definitely sympathise with your situation and left the game once already after falling deeply into the same mindset as you. Look me up on EU [EN] Snowbourne char name 'Grimboj' if you need help. |

"The suspense is terrible... I hope it''ll last." |
1st off thanks for not posting something about Conan or "the end of WoW" ! :) hehehe As was said , the more obscure , and usually easier to obtain Titles are more fun to have floating above your head - to me it is an aspect of the game I pretty much ignore , if I get a new one from whatever I am doing - which during festivals running all over trying to drink as much as possible in a certain time limit while your toon as wobbling all over with tunnel vision is funny.... and I like the sound of it , I will throw it up but otherwise LotRo has SO much more. It is definitely just a personal choice. I never really had a problem with dying too much and I solo'd my characters in to the 30's ( I haven't been able to get on much lately) Three of them actually - Guardian - really fun swinging 2 weapons and doing some mean AOE attacks, prolly one of my favorites ; Burglar - which is not your typical "rogue" toon , I was addicted to this character for a while but I was running my Guard at the same time, ; and everyones fave a Hunter - they are fun and easy to keep a solo run going. While I was being anti-social in the MMO hehe I would go from quest to quest and if I hit one a could not do after a few tries I would go around it for a bit then just go back to it - there are plenty of other quests to be found, even in little out of the way places like cabins , fields , ruins , etc... anyway - don't give up just check on more quests and find a class you're good with As for sites , I am not too sure but a couple I do hit now and then for info are : http://www.thebrasse.com/lotro/ http://lotro-wiki.com/index.php/Main_Page |

I tried getting that title with my Guardian, but honestly, it's not that big a deal if you don't get it. I think I got to the level 14 title then died at 16 when a friend of mine and I foolishly tried to do the Lalia's Safe Passage quest in the Barrow-downs on our own. It was a rather ugly death, to say the least. Honestly though, finally dying took the pressure off. After that, I was able to just relax and enjoy the game instead of trying to make it to 20 without dying. Besides, I'd rather be known as a Shire Brewmaster or Pie-Eating Champion anyway. It's much more appropriate for a Hobbit than being Undying. |
