Producer's Letter Details Team's Work
The tenth edition of the Final Fantasy XIV producer's letter has arrived on the FFXIV Lodestone with an impressive chart of features and enhancement the team is working on. Included in the massive list are items that have already been implemented, a list of things the team is currently working on and things that are scheduled for later inclusion.

Battle Reform Blueprint

Square Enix Posts Huge Losses
Square Enix released its Q1 2011 financial data yesterday posting a $16 million USD loss. The company issued a revised earnings estimate for the remainder of the year. Much of the monetary difficulty can be laid at the feet of the recent and catastrophic Japanese earthquake and tsunami with between-the-lines assessment also pointing at a mishandled Final Fantasy XIV launch. The result? Tightened development schedules, revised earnings projections and the cancellation of some projects.

Restoration of Service
Square Enix has announced that service for both Final Fantasy XI and Final Fantasy XIV will be restored on Friday, March 25th. The team has reduced its power use to accommodate the needs of the two games' servers. As a result, both games will be brought online at that time. The team adds the caveat that game service may still be cut depending on the energy situation in Japan.

Square Enix Donates $1.2 Million to Japan Relief
Square Enix has announced that it has donated 100 million Japanese Yen to organizations providing relief to victims of last week's tragic earthquake and tsunami that devastated the northern coast of Japan. The amount is equivalent to $1.2 million US dollars. Square Enix also indicated that it is accepting donations from employees.

Somber Producer's Letter
The Final Fantasy XIV Lodestone has been updated with a somber Producer's Letter from Naoki Yoshida. The letter confirms that all members of the Japanese firm's development team have been accounted for but that many members have family in the devastated areas of Japan. The new outlook for the forthcoming patches is now two weeks later than originally planned.

Game Servers Shut Down
Due to the horrific Japanese earthquake late last week and due to the continuing energy disaster in the country, all Final Fantasy XI and Final Fantasy XIV servers have been temporarily shut down. Once the energy crisis has passed, servers will be restarted for game play.
