    The Final Fantasy XIV site has been updated with new information about "Before the Fall Part 2", the next content update scheduled for March 31st. In the main story arc, players will be called to defend the Gates of Judgement that guard the entrance to Ishgard. The city's future rises or falls on the tide of war.

    Square Enix and the Final Fantasy XIV team were on hand at this weekend's PAX East convention to reveal some new information about the Heavensward expansion. YoshiP confirmed that the pre-order date will begin on March 16th, with release on June 23rd. Those wishing early access will gain it by preordering Heavensward.

Among other things, players can learn more about the spotlight of the next update, the Manderville Gold Saucer. Yoshi P. said that the Manderville Gold Saucer was introduced in FFVII as an arcade location that is now being brought forward to FFXIV.

  • Updates & Expansions to Come More Frequently

    The Final Fantasy XIV Reddit has been updated with some newly translated material from the Japanese site Famitsu that indicates Square Enix is on board with more frequent updates and yearly expansions. Updating FFXIV from v2.0 to v3.0 took roughly 18 months. According to the post, that should shorten dramatically in the future, down to about three months between updates.

I do it with EVE Online, Ultima Online and other games that just scream nostaglia. Normally I find that the games have aged well but do not change so dramatically that I feel like I am playing a brand new game.
