Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn is Square Enix's latest online installment in the legendary Final Fantasy series. Players enter the land of Hydaelyn to adventure in the regions of Eorzea, and can switch between four distinct classes and 18 sub-specializations by equipping different weapons. The PC game was originally released in September of 2010, but was brought back into development for a full overhaul and will relaunch alongside the PS3 version in 2013.
Square Enix has sent out a brand new trailer to give Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward players a forward look at v3.4 "Soul Surrender". The trailer was released during this week's Tokyo Game Show and shows off the penultimate part of the Alexander raid, a pair of new dungeons, adventurer squadrons, Palace of the Dead and much more. Soul Surrender is slated for release on September 27th.

The latest Final Fantasy Letter from the Producer Live has been summarized over at NovaCrystallis.com and with it comes the great news that Patch 3.4 will be arriving in players' hands on September 27th. Players can look forward to a reworked UI, new main scenario quests, new side quests, a new raid dungeon, trial, and the final tier of the Mechanical Fortress Alexander.
Final Fantasy XIV has been in its reincarnated second state for three years now. Each year to celebrate the game's relaunch, an event called The Rising is held. This year, the celebration will kick off on Saturday, August 27th and will run through Monday, September 12th.

The Final Fantasy XIV blog has been updated with information about rewards players can score during the annual seasonal event, Moonfire Faire. Players can earn new poses, each in two different varieties. In total, there are six emotes to obtain.

The Final Fantasy XIV Lodestone has been updated with the news that the cross-promotional event, Yo-kai Watch: Gather One, Gather All, will be kicking off on Tuesday, July 26th and will run through Monday, October 3rd. The quest line begins at player level 15+ and is predicated on completion of any one of the main scenario quests. Once finished with the quest, players will be given a Yo-kai Watch and Medallion used to gather Yo-kai Medals.
The Final Fantasy XIV site has been updated with a brief note to let players know of their most recent wave of bans implemented against players advertising real money transactions in-game and / or other 'illicit activities'. Over 6,500 accounts were given permanent vacations from FFXIV.
