The game is entirely free of charge, though players may opt for a Collector's Edition featuring a number of bonuses, such as upfront access to 20 of game's Champions, an assortment of exclusive skins, and some unique Summoner Runes. The Collector's Edition is available at retail for $29.99.
Reported on Oct 27, 2009League of Legends, the spiritual successor to the popular Warcraft III mod Defense of the Ancients, is going free to play, with an item shop. When the game comes out this September, you will be able to acquire the game free of charge, though there will also be a Collector's Edition retail product available at BestBuy and GameStop that will contain extra goodies.
