After experiencing both, I have to say...I prefer Rift's events to GW2's. I like the scale, the objectives, the sudden pvp, the multiple boss fights, the sounds, the style in which they appear the rewards and most of all, the communities and social hubs they foster. I know, I know, its blasphemy. But its just my preference. Go RIFT!! |

Originally posted by DannyGlover people like what they like. I enjoyed Rift's instant adventures myself when i subbed for a month a while back, but i am on the other side of the fence on this issue. A 200 foot swamp demon burst from the swamp in Queensdale today. It killed us all. We promply made our way back to it. After about 15 intense minutes, we killed it and got some great loot from it. soooo Go Gw2! |

There's really nothing wrong with liking something. I enjoy difficult content for the challenge it poses. Other players may only want to play for fun. KEEP LIKING IT. Tell your friends. I like gw2, you like Rift. Now we can share experiences and differences. Play for fun. Play to win. Play for perfection. Play with friends. Play in another world. Why do you play? |

i think a rift is a rift from level 1 to 50, also rifts had over a year to tweak stuff.
played a million mmo's |

There's nothing wrong with it at all. Somebody needs to like them, might as well be you.

Rarely ever see people in Rifts. The zone wide events can be popular during prime time, though.
If you like Rift's "DEs" better that does not bode well for GW2, imo. |

Rifts bugged me because you could see where they were going to happen on a map, unless they weren't like that in much later levels. But I thought they were cool too, the game just didn't end up appealing to me outside of them.
no GW2 won't kill WoW, but it's time to move on and quit worrying about those people still playing it. - eyelolled |

I will be playing GW2 for sure, that said I also found the Rift DE's more exciting. Couple reasons why this may be: 1: They actually are built to be more exciting or 2: Since it was my first DE experience it was more impressive being the first Either of those options the truth is from what I have experienced at this time the Rift DEs seemed more exciting. I only made it to like low 30's in Rift and only got to play in GW2 Beta weekend event so it doesnt mean I am an authority on their DE content through the entire game. As for Rift it was a great game but something felt too familiar, and I didnt really connect with the storyline or art direction which is huge for me. As for you OP its not wrong at all, and I hope you enjoy the heck out of Rift for a long time if that is your preference, especially those DEs which I agree are pretty darn fun :) Dont hate, appreciate! World of Warcraft, Warhammer Online, Tabula Rasa, Fallen Earth, Eve Online, Guild Wars 1, Age of Conan, Rift, City of Heros/Villians, Champions Online, Vindictus, Dungeons and Dragons, Guild Wars 2... |

It is hard to say BECAUSE by the time GW2 drops Trion is planning on dropping instant adventures for 1-50 bracket whih will be interesting to say the least. I do like the concept that the quest kind of starts as you get near the area.

Originally posted by DannyGlover I'm on the fence. Rift has been by far my favorite game and I have a hard time believing that GW2 at max level will manage to be as entertaining as Rift at max level due to the quantity of stuff to do in Rift and the rate at which they push new content. I've said it before and I'll say it again: Rift deserves far more subscribers than it has and that's a shame. That said, I was exceedingly impressed with GW2 last weekend and can't wait to play more. I probably won't know until after launch if I like it better than Rift overall or not, but I think GW2 currently has the upper hand in events because they seem to be much more varried than are Rift's... erm... rifts. Originally posted by iamflymolo I've said it before and I'll say it again: Rift deserves far more subscribers than it has and that's a shame. No company has ever tried as hard to acquire subscribers as Trion. But they repeatedly failed to address some of the major concerns and instead focused on half-assed additions to the endgame. PA, chronicles, IA, Master Mode dungeons....these are all things that were completely half-assed. How long has it been since master modes were released, and what theres still only 2 of them? The concept was introduced in September, thats 2/3rds of a year ago. IAs should have covered all level ranges when they were introduced. Chronicles? Theres a grand total of....3 now? (not counting the intro one).
Yet the lack of world size, lack of options while levelling, boring crafting, no housing...all this stuff that people repeatedly said Rift was lacking in as they left after 3 months or less...ignored. They finally added in fishing and survival, thats a step in the right direction.
But no, it doesn't deserve far more subscribers. The game just isn't compelling to most people and Trion has ignored a lot of the reasons why. And this summer is a dangerous time for Rift. http://www.riftstatus.net/shards/na/stats is not where you want to be 2 weeks after your first raid in 9 months and first major patch in 5 months is released. |
