this site isn't cooperating when i search the forum here for 1.8 details i was wondering is there a post with a comprehensive list of the improvements they are planning on making? (casual gamer with interests in fishing/cosmetics/solo duo play.)

1.8 is not even listed on their official website's update section, so perhaps we will know coming soon?

I do hope cooking gives buffs i miss that from WoW and LOTRO

It does. There are foods that give buffs after eating them.
