My fellow MMO’ers,
I have had a revolution. My first MMO was WoW (I know make fun its ok I don’t care!) And I loved it! Pre-BC and TBC, I lived in Azoth. 12 Hours a day 7 days a week. I meet during that time many people who I am still friends with to this day. I will remain friends with them for my life, even though some I have never even meet IRL.
Since that time I have played the following games; AoC, WAR, SWTOR, RIFT, LOTRO, EQ2 and Dark Fall. None I liked. Played them all at release and quit a month in. I have since dreamt about a new MMO that would be as EPIC as wow was when I first played. Guess what that dream will and always will be just that a DREAM!
I have thought a lot about this topic; I spent countless nights rolling around in bed thinking about this for hours.
I know how to have that same kind of excitement and fun in an MMO again.
First find a solid, not buggy game. Witch I did, RIFT, played it now for a week. Love it even though I quit a month after release I came back, and I love it. Why do I love it? The class customization is amazing, plan and simple. You really feel unique with the amount of choices they give you.
The other reason I am sold on it… the first 5 man I did. OMG was this epic! I’m not sure who else did this but if you have the graphics on all high the second half or so of this dungeon is epic. I do not want to spoil it but I will say the weather effects that they added were just epic. I believe it is called Realm of the Fae.
Anyway like I said, I found what makes MMO’s amazing that I feel people lost sight of. Ready for it
It is the people you meet while playing, and the not just the people you meet but the ones that really become friends.
Now we all know what the games are like when they first come out. Chat servers full of Ass holes, elitist jerks, little kids that make chuck Norris jokes or once again ASSHOLES, you know the ones that when you ask a question are like “LOL NOOB GO KILL YOUR SELF” these people are the ones that ruin the games.
Now that RIFT has been out for a little over a year. These people have all left the game. I have not had any bad experiences in chat. Its full booming people talking and not just talking but helping each other (yes I said helping …. Yea actually being nice that’s weird huh?)
So what is the real reason for this post? I want to recruit people to play rift with. I want to form a guild, not a hard core guild but a social guild. Joining this guild will be like joining a bowling league or a club. You will need to be able to be on at least 3 of the 4 designated nights. These are not raid nights atm(they could and will most likely turn into them though) but for now just nights we can all be on in the guild talking in chat or in vent and having fun together. I will supply the Vent server and website. If you want to join you will need to go to our website. (Sorry I am working on the website)
I want to build a group of friends. Not just a guild. After rift is gone and done with maybe 3 years from now. I want a group of people that will then move to another game together.

i signed up for rift the other day when the free to level 20 trail went active. After my first day i bought it off amazon for $9.99 (comes with 30 days gametime) I love this game. It reminds me of what WoW use to be like. The game looks fantastic and there is a ton of skills you have at ur disposal. The very first 5 man dungen you do is better then any 5 man wow has to date.I played wow from vanilla thru cata. It takes things from WoW and WaR so call it a clone if u want but it does everything better. Im happy to have a chalalnge again. |

I did all Rift betas, included the big a**hole called Open Beta (where they changed some classes, after some newcomers /cry), and i never played it after he was gold because is a WarHammer photocopy. And, sorry, but i don't pay for a game that's not original. rBTW if you are recruting members for your guild this is the wrong section. |

Originally posted by uncletoma Okay, I liked WAR at its start. That's a positive review for me. I'm downloading the trial now. Any PvP tips? :) Current: GW2 (almost) |

OP - PM me a way to contact you and I'd definitely be interested. If I don't hear back from you, chances are I won't be able to really pursue joining you. |

yes comunity is a big part of staying with a game for long but to tell you the truth i played WoW for like a year before i found rl friends that played. i guild hopped a lot and mostly did my own thing. even when my friends stoped playing i had a real hard time leaving WoW. wile the game was incredibly fun and addicting, i have never foudn WoW's comnuity to be very friendly or mature.... i've also played all the other games you've mentioned and many of them for more then 1 month each. i played Rift for a whole 6 hours and was bored out of my mind.
yes comunity will go a long way to keep you in game but only the game it'self will keep you loggin in. Rift is not that game, not for me anyways. |

Not to hijack this thread, but speaking of a-holes/immaturity in WoW, has anyone else noticed how it sort of comes in waves over the years? There will be months of other awesome MMO-ers that actually want to play the game, then all of a sudden, BOOM, you're faced teaming up with 12 yr olds who just discovered how to improperly use curse words. This cycle has repeated for me several times. ?? |
