MMORPG.com and Resistor Productions are pleased to announce the opening of the dueling style browser game Disciple! For the first time ever we have decided to incorporate an online browser game as part of our network. New members registering for the MMORPG.com website will have an option to auto generate a game account for Disciple to jump into the action.
The beta test for Disciple will begin April 27th!
Tobias Batton, Game Director for Disciple released the following statement:
I am Tobias Batton, the Game Director of a new web MMORPG called "Disciple". Like many of you, I have been a fan of MMOs for over 10 years. My first MMO was UO, and now I am playing LOTRO.
I have been coming to MMORPG.com for about 3 years now to stay up to date with current games, and read about new ones coming out. During this time, I had a few business ventures I was involved in, one of which lead me to reach out to the owners of MMORPG.com.
Over time we became friends, so when I sold my previous company, I came to them with questions about the marketability for "mini" MMO games in a web browser. Based on their feedback and a lot of research, I decided to make Disciple, a web MMO, and they agreed to help with their feedback, advice, and allowing limited integration of the game into the website MMORPG.com. The benefit to the community at MMORPG.com, is an easy way to take your arguments from the forum, directly to the battlefield, so to speak. While the current integration is limited to instant sign up with Disciple, and our game living at a subdomain of MMORPG.com, in the future we will build a system that makes it easy for this community to fight each other and work together directly from MMORPG.com. For those of you with no interest, Disciple will seem like just another browser based MMO listed on the site.
Disciple, like many other MMOs, is a fantasy MMO. What is different from many other games you have played, is that this game is delivered to you via your web browser, rather than a typical client based game. The graphics certainly wont be as good as what you are used to, but in terms of browser games, the visuals are quite impressive. We’ve managed to create a reasonably visceral experience given the technology limitations of a web browser. We are not so naive to think that our browser game will take the place of many popular client MMOs. Our goal is to create a browser experience that will entertain MMO players while they are at work, school, visiting their in laws, or anywhere that they do not have access to whichever client game they are currently involved in.
Thanks for reading, and if you have any questions, suggestions, advice or ideas about Disciple, what it is, and where it can go, please visit our official forums that are conveniently located right here at MMORPG.com.
You can check out the official website at http://disciple.mmorpg.com
Stay tuned because very soon we will begin giving out free beta test keys to our community! These keys will allow you to take part in the beta test which begins April 27, 2009!
I'm guilty of not reading the overview, but it looks like some type of Adventure Quest Flashbased game?
The characters' idle animation reminds me of Mortal Kombat. An interesting addition to your network, MMORPG.com - best of luck! :-)
Looking forwards to dueling with other members, could be a very intresting addition to the site, pit fighting in the pub, only now we get to see it
.
What part of this is massively?
It falls under our new listing rules for browser based MMOs. It does have chat for everyone online.
The genre of MMO's is ever expanding. Guess it is nice not everyone is making a Wow clone. I am sure we will find developers finding even more interesting ways to enter this genre.
I'm sorry, I think this game is hideous. I think it will make tens of dollars, if that. Best to keep it completely free. It's my opinion though... and I'm not trying to purposely offend the developers or the fans.
