Lobotomist writes: Ok. Now this sounds good. No levels , you start as highest level - no grind. Awesome. Perhaps there is still a chance we are going to see a good game from Funcom Tue Apr 07 2009 8:41AM Report

openedge1 writes: I am a horror survival fanatic, and to have an MMO with concepts like those games, and being classless, level-less...yea, I hope this one works, because on paper, it is a dream game. Tue Apr 07 2009 9:05AM Report
ukii writes: No lvls means skill system, which means grind all over again. You can't escape from the grind in mmos... I the no lvl system is great, but dont expect too much or you'll be dissapointed. What i'm interested in is player housing. I hope it's in. The traler kinda hints it and it gave me some hope :) Tue Apr 07 2009 10:01AM Report
hidden1 writes: I suppose grinding for certain skills can define your character as a "class-type" if you will, though technically classless, I imagine you can still build a swordsman, gun/range, or magic/summoner type, and/or I suppose a hybridization of any of the mentioned "class-type" builds. Well at least seems more flexible than an MMO with official classes, and the class restrictions thereof. Since it's modern-based, one wonders if they'll go the slight sci-fi route an allow for implants, and slightly futuristic weapons and gears, or will it be true to modern, conventional technologies? Well either way I'm intrigued, and I supose that's a good thing. :) Tue Apr 07 2009 11:10AM Report
Fr0z1nDuDe writes: does this guy even know what grinding MEANS?... you may not be grinding lvls in this game but you're going to be grinding your skill lvls... sword / gun / bubble gum power stc... and how do we grind our weapon skills lvls? by killing things over and over... how do we grind character lvls? by killing things over and over... this game will phail... btw for you people who are THAT stupid... grinding is LIFE... everyday you wake up the same time go to the same work do the same thing at work for years and years for what? for your paycheck... whats your paycheck? your paycheck is your gold in games... your epic loots in games... your reward for all the GRIND you did... who doesn't grind in life? HOBOS... hobos dont grind shit... they live on the street and eat from garbage cans... how awesome is a life without grind eh?... Tue Apr 07 2009 11:24AM Report
Shastra writes: Its so easy to send nerds in excitement frenzy isn't it? Its time people stop getting too hyped just hearing words of a developer. Especially, FUNCOM. Tue Apr 07 2009 11:31AM Report
Fr0z1nDuDe writes: everything that HUMANS create is based off what we are and what we see... saying that you are going to make a mmo without grind is the SAME AS saying you are going to create an alien character that DOESN'T follow the same form design as a HUMAN (aka NO ARMS NO LEGS NO EYES NO HEADS NO HANDS)or cockroaches or slimes... basically a design that goes BEYOND what we see everyday and have never EVER imagined before... too bad that 99% of the people's brain in this world is INCAPABLE go imagining the UNIMAGINABLE... slipline writes: pray for no instances! bring back a seamles world please! I am still to jaded about FunCom. We know the launch will be horrible, its their legacy. Everyone is right about the no grind comment. Thats marketing hype. Tue Apr 07 2009 12:27PM Report
natuxatu writes: Looks and sounds good! Yeah it's true all game has grind. And what MMO players dont realise is that you want grind or you are going to get bored fast. If you don't want grind you get a game like Darkfall... so be carefull. Still grinding skills instead of levels seems to give you more freedom and perhaps will keep people on the same level. I rather grind other stuff like titles, skills at my own pace and still be to fight others ect... which is what seems to be the case in this game. Tue Apr 07 2009 12:37PM Report
SBE1 writes: Do something different, like release a game that is complete and not full of bugs at launch. Also try making a game that offers stuff that is promised on the game's box. Tue Apr 07 2009 12:40PM Report

weltschmerz writes: Ok people, let me get one thing straight here: First of all, nice comments - evon tho i do not agree with most of em - nice to see, that people write kind of intelligent stuff. GRINDING ! Yea, for sure playing guitar in reallife means grinding every day ... But c`mon, give them a chance !! When they say: "no grinding" - it means -- for sure you`ll do something to improve or evolve or whatever. But no levels means, you can explore and start playing with a unique feeling right away. Ultima Online and SWG were skillbased and i believe it is the best way to go off in an mmo. I played many different types and THIS one really catches my eye. For sure, the release will be buggy =)) But hey, when i look at my birth as a release of myself i must say : just because it is not working as intended yet, doesnt mean that it fucking OWNZ ! greets to all of you, Weltschmerz Tue Apr 07 2009 5:18PM Report
Wizardry writes: I cannot believe how naive many people there are.It is famous marketing, where a game says they are NEW and DIFFERENT,but you know what, this will be the same old.If you listen carefully, you HAVE to unlock areas,so JUST like AOC in Tortage, most of the houses are static unlocked.Typical design of a solo player console game,AOC is famous for this. This type of system is EXACTLY what a level based system is,there is no difference at all.In a level based game, after a certain time in the game you will be attaining new spells and abilities. In this game you are not going to have EVERY spell/ability,you will gain it over time, just as in a level based game,be it through use or other means.IMO this game will offer NOTHING new, does not mean it will be a bad game,go ahead and enjoy it,but please don't be fooled into thinking it is a unique game. The object is to save the world, yep that's a unique idea ..umm sorry not. Spiritof55 writes: Looks very promising. I'll definately be watching this one. Oh, ryzom has no character levels and there is no predefined class you're forced to choose. You can be all "classes" in one character. The idea of a classless game with no character levels has been done. Skill based sandbox ftw! Wed Apr 08 2009 1:15PM Report

alliko writes: I think the Asian look to the trailer is due to the fact that it is in Tokyo... He did mention that they had in the works several cities including Tokyo, london , Cairo, etc. I think it would be a real thrill to be fighting vampires on a double decker in london in a modern day setting. Maybe they will even have current news clips on the TVs in the homes/malls/businesses that we will be exploring. Yeah there will always be grind to anything... but this grind may take us new places. Maybe the grind will be conspiracy quest driven that will force us to interact with new agents or delve deeper into our newly arisen powers... will force us to sneak on airplanes to help agents in the middle east. Maybe there will even be the option to be swayed by evil and become a fallen agent or double agent. Interesting premise... would like to see more. Sun Apr 12 2009 2:49PM Report
