What? Just take the first NPC (the western guy) and compare him to the guy in the church. They are not even remotely similar. I have no idea what you are talking about now... There is one NPC that you meet in several places, maybe you are mixing it up?

That's the random presets for the head. If the random preset for the head had included the clothes you can select at startup as well, you wouldn't see anything looking the same in bloody ages.

There are a lot of clothes available as rewards from dungeons and you can buy them from ingame cash in the shops in London, New York and Seoul.

The faces still look the same. The body shape is still the same. It's like the clone wars all over again. A few clothes don't change this. Worst character creator I've seen in ages.

Yeah, the body does are the same, but the same can't be said about the faces. Some look butt ugly, while others are fine. Lots of completely different looking hair options as well. With all the different clothes the characters you will be hard pressed to find two characters that look a like at all. I have yet to see another "clone" of myself for instance.

The OP has done the same thing in game.

Feel free to try it next beta weekend. Maybe they'll even improve the selection until then.

The guy in the church got a makeover between the 2nd and the 3rd beta weekend btw. Women are affect much more than men.

Well I looked at your youtube and am in closed beta, faces do not look the same. Even in that youtube movie you show there are distinct differences, but Im guessing by looking the same you mean same body type and every character has a head and neck on their shoulders.

There are 8 different heads.

5 different types of noses.

5 different types of lips.

5 different types of jaws.

5 different types of eyes.

13 different skin collors

12 different eye collors

11 hairstyles

13 hair collors

13 facial hair collors(for males)

5 different types of eye brows

12 different beard/mustache (male)

3 types of make up (female)

--

I set the sliders identical so only the basic head changed.

?No, I mean things like the general shape of the face. In real life people have different shaped faces on a very fundamental level, the famous heart/oval/and so on "face types". This does not exist in TSW and it is visible in your pictures as well as in the video.

The fact that the body can't be adjusted plays a role, too. There is no way to change the amount of fat or muscle mass, which would affect the face. None of the face presets take this into account.

People seem to want to nitpick this game to death.

I was in the last beta weekend and I did not meet a single person that looked like me. Did not meet a single person using the same 2 weapons I was. Did not meet a single person that took the same exact skill progression I did.

Wanna talk about identical characters? You are in the wrong genre of games. Go play your tank, healer, or dd then come back and say you didn't look like the other 2 healers in the party or the dd wasn't using the same skills you were ...don't get me started on tanks and plate.

Game is here to stay .. already has quite a large following. Get over it or gtfo.

Since this is my only nit I'm picking, i don't think I'm trying to nitpick it to death :)

It's a great game otherwise and I keep telling people that.

Well you have to understand that this game is under a relentless attack from some other game lovers so people here a bit defensive.

Okay then I should probably add that I've pre-ordered both TSW and GW2 and I like TSW better. ;-)

Character creation still sucks.

Youll be able to by more face customizations via the item mall post-launch. The business model tells me this is a money grab. I dont think the game is ready to ship yet and FC should hold off for a couple months and iron out the glitchey/ jerky character motions and porting/jumping npc enemies and while they are at it add falling damage. There are a lot of cool things about this title not counting the greedy business model but if they could pacify their hunger of money for a bit and smooth their product out around the edges they would have something really good... I dont see it happening though.

"glitchey/ jerky character motions and porting/jumping npc enemies"

Didn't see any of this during any of the week ends I played. Please post pics of the mall. The only thing I could do was open it and that was it. Couldn't browse anything. Maybe the closed beta has access.../shrug.

False information is false.

The game currently has :

8 different heads.

5 different types of noses.

5 different types of lips.

5 different types of jaws.

5 different types of eyes.

13 different skin collors

12 different eye collors

11 hairstyles

5 different types of eye brows

12 different beard/mustache (male)

3 types of make up (female)

Ill login to the game later to count the different shoes, pants/skirts, glasses, shirts and jackets in character creation

I can post a few screenies of outifts availeble in clothes stores in game for in game currencies too if you want.

This is you just guessing with no facts.

Here's some facts for you.

Ragnar said two days ago on the official site that there will be more options come launch, but don't expect a full redesign.  They will continue to work on the Character Creator post launch and those that have already created their character will have an option to change it then.

The Cash Shop for them is only outfits.  That's it.  They can do that because they have a sub.  They can't move away from that because they have a sub.  Players won't stand for blaitant cash grabs from a company.  Funcom knows that.

Now compare that to a cash shop with a game with no sub.  Those are the games you should be directing your concern towards.  Regardless of what they say their 'intent' is.

Game with Cash Shop that has a sub = additional revenue.  Buying things from cash shop does not have to be primary source of revenue.

Game with Cash Shop and no sub = primary source of revenue.  Buying things from cash shop does have to be primary source of revenue.

On top of that development period.  Games development requires sources of income to plan ahead.  Cash Shop is an unknown variable for development because you don't know how much money will come in on a given month.  That means you have to guess.  More likely drop something in there that you think people will buy to hedge your bets.  Sub games have static revenue that they can count on based on investment from subscribers.  They still have the month to month, but protracted subscriptions make development easier for companies to plan for the future based on cost assets.

It's that simple.

If you looked to the side, the only options you had in the store was clothing option categories.

^^^^ This. I'm trying to think of a worse character creation system, but I can't.

For some, a stick is always a stick. You can not change the way they think. Watch the video again, please do. put it on HD mode and zoom in on the face....oh wait, thats right...you can't. How about taking a few seconds to actually SEE the faces as each are presented in this great video...oh...well thats right again...you can't.

That is all because the creator of the video didnt want anyone to see any differences in the faces, it would have defeated the point he made it, which was to come on here and create this thread. Now, had he been an open minded and HONEST poster, he would have used the zoom function in the editor to bring us in on a close up to the face. And then would have clicked the random button less than 120 times a minute so we had a chance to actually SEE that which he is trying to tell us.

I'm not saying the character creation is the best I have seen, but they are not all identical as this OP would like to make everyone believe. His video was made specifically to misslead and misdirect. Stop trying to push an agenda please. If you want us to believe you, post something that is usefull, not a spin cycle vid like this one.

And lets be honest here shall we, the OP has 14 posts to his name on these forums, 12 of those are negative slam posts to TSW character generator. I wouldnt' be the least surprised to find this to be someones old second or third account on here which was resurected for the sole purpose of bashing TSW and maintaining the actual persons reputation hiden on another account name. Anyone who can maintain Lurker status without a single issue on THESE forums for almost 9 years doesn't just flip out one day and start posting all negatives on a single topic. Not unless this character creation system is the end of the world for them.... which I could be wrong, and it could be.

(DISCLAIMER - The use of the word YOU in the above post is not directed at any one person in particular, but towards those who fall into the category itself - there is no personal attack here, neither intentional nor implied.)

I found one that had my character's coat and shirt in a combination   Had a different hair-style, though the same color, and had gone with white pants instead of the white mini-skirt I had on my character.   Her face was kind of similar.

For my male character, I didn't see a single other man use the green military sweater/brown flight-jacket combo.   Tons of blue jeans, but if you're complaining about people blue jeans...   Well...   lol.
