I would love to try the game, but I know that I won't be paying subscriptions for games anymore so that scratches this one off the list unless it goes F2P. I hope everyone that tries it enjoys it. |

Did anybody else get an email from funcom saying they were in the closed beta? I got two emails one from gamestop with the weekend code, and I used that and it gave me the weekend beta download link. Then when I got home from work, I got a second email from funcom, with a different code and said I was now in the closed beta and could begin playing at 5pm tonight. I had never previously signed up for the TSW closed beta and never used that email for anything funcom related (I actually have a seperate email set up just for dealing with funcom and cryptic because they have given me headaches in the past) but this was the email I have for gamestop but no other mmo account. So it had to be related to the Gamestop givaway because as I said, I had never signed up for the TSW beta before, I even created a new funcom account just for putting in the Weekend Beta key. Anybody else get a closed beta invite as well? Oh, and after putting in the second code that funcom sent me, I have a second download link. So I now have one that says Weekend Beta Client, and one that says Closed Beta Client.
Edit: Oh and mods if this in any way breaks NDA please delete the offending part, to me this is more of a discussion of a possible glitch than anything else, but I understand others can view it differently. |

A few things to clear up in this thread.
First) Many people have been invited to the closed beta as well as the open beta. The closed beta is under NDA and you're not even supposed to acknowledge that you got into closed beta. Two) The Public Beta Weekend that starts May 11th is NOT under NDA. I have no idea why people think it is, but it is not.

Originally posted by bloodaxes Giving out misinformation like that, while I'm sure you aren't doing it deliberately, just serves to feed trolls. From funcom_tsw twitter feed, 5th May: "There will be no NDA on the Beta Weekends. All information on the upcoming Beta Weekend will be released Monday." From TSW webpage about the beta weekend coming, 6. Will there be a NDA for this Beta Weekend?

Originally posted by Connmacart If you sign up for beta, you're signing up for the closed beta which is under NDA. If you get into the Public Beta Weekend, you sign nothing. Examples of how to get into Public Beta Weekend? Get code from PAX, Get Secret Agent in The Secret War, get code from Gamespot. Examples of how to get into closed beta? Register for Beta on their site.

When i signed for the account I had to tick the NDA for the beta. Maybe they didn't edit the site yet, it still shows that there is going be NDA for the beta week. |

Originally posted by bloodaxes If you signed up for Beta, that's closed beta which is under NDA. I know for a fact that no NDA shows up on your account if you only register a weekend beta key. edit- They send emails informing you of which beta you have access to. It specifically says it right there. This isn't to you Blood because I don't know what your situation is, but TONS of people are confused because they honestly aren't reading the email...at all.

I just used one of the Gamespot keys from the giveaway and had to agree to the NDA when I registered the key on my account. So...... |

Originally posted by Connmacart I received two beta keys for the weekend stuff. One was from The Secret War and the other was a code from PAX. neither required an NDA to be signed. (I set them up for my friends.) When I pre-ordered, I'm pretty sure I didn't need to sign a NDA then too. I have no idea about Gamespot. Sounds like that one might have you require a NDA, which is not valid for the weekends. Regardless - Here's the official response about the Beta Weekends. |

Thanks for the heads up OP! Am on the fence with this one having already Pre-purchased GW2 and enjoying the game I am currently... enjoying. Beta Weekend will help me out on whether to get this at some point or not. |

Thanks for the heads up on the beta weekend. Been registered for TSW for months and nothing from Funcom. And if it wasn't for this tidbit I would have been passed up. It really erks me when these companies rather do promotions for potential customers BEFORE reaching out to the customers who have shown a little more interest in their games. Funcom and companies like it really should not count their chickens before they hatch. Just because I registered months ago does not mean they should take my interest as a guarantee. I'm just as likely to drop a game as I am to become a long term subscriber.
Oh well, downloading the client as we speak. I'll have to give my impression (which I rarely do) only because I feel Funcom has tried to assume just because I'm registered that I'm a fanboy.....they couldn't be further from the truth.

The people who had to sign an nda looks like you were lucky enough to get access to the Closed beta. That is under nda. The open beta at the weekend, which is a separate download (some people have access to both) is not subject to NDA
