I can't help, but feel myself being drawn in. I know the graphics don't look the best. But 3 faction PvP, Lovecraft, modern setting, 500+ abilities I'll admit the more I read and learn about the game (which is a bit sparse - probably by design), the more I'm interested. The only thing keeping back from getting full blown excited is that it's made by Funcom. I hope they give us an Open Beta weekend to try it out. I will not be buying this game sight unseen. No matter how much I have the urge to. My God I feel this is the closest I'll get to a WoD MMO, until CCP comes out with theirs a few years down the road.

@ xmenty I believe I read that instances will be similar to AoC. It's not about fighting, it's about balance. It's not about enlightenment, it's about balance. It's not about balance. |

Originally posted by xmenty I think it is. It would have to be considering New York, London, Seoul are the three base cities for the game. Including all the other locations in the world. |

Originally posted by xmenty Actually its rather large open world zones where you will run across other players from time to time like in most mmo's. |

Originally posted by xmenty Most likely it'll be like Age of Conan, since it mostly uses the same engine tweaked for this game. Besides, since the game takes place in the real world, they'd have an excuse for it as well, you can't really expect a game world where you could go from new york to england on foot. |

Originally posted by xmenty No it's not the same. You travel through Agartha.. which is some sort of hollow earth hub that take you through tunnelse to the various areas. It's not the same as AoC at all. Really cleverly done. I guess the Press releasing more info the 21st will say more about that. The Ultimate Breakdown |

Expect few large zones with loading screens between them (when traveling in Argatha). Zones that have been mentioned are Salomon Island, Egypt, Transylvania (or how its spelled). These zones are further devided into several playfields that don't have loading times between them. Further you have the 3 city hubs and the PvP battlegrounds and warzones. Words from beta has it that each zone feels very big and that the loading between zones doesnt feel as bad as one would think because how all zones are connected through argatha. Ofcourse these are only words. |

Well this game is almost made for the vast majority of posters here. If it wasn't for so much Funcom hate (say it was a new company developing this) it would be RIDICULOUSLY over hyped. This is a case where I think Funcom's reputation will actually help them temper the hype. |

Originally posted by s1fu71 If that's true then it will be hardly noticable that game was nice about that. You never felt you were in an instance the whole time you were even the small towns were big enough to feel like an open world imo. |

Well said ProfRed. Even tho its getting annoying with all the Funcom hate it also works for them in some way. If this game doesnt end up getting massive hate when its launched it must be the best game ever made. The crazy thing is that i hope it wont be the next wow or be massively succesful, just enough to dish out new content in a fair rate and keep it going for a long time. That way they can stay true to their original vision and not be tempered with by the masses. |

Originally posted by itgrowlsOriginally posted by s1fu71 Well, the instancing of taverns was sometimes annoying and went a step too far, if you traveled from tavern to city to other city it could get annoying, and I would rather have preferred it when Tarantia was 1 whole area instead of 3 separate zones. But yeah, overall the instances and zones didn't bother me as much as it seemed to do with some other gamers. |

Probably the one thing that attracts me to this game the most is something Ragnar Tornquist said last year about invisible walls. He said it was his biggest pet peeve in mmos and he designed TSW to have the least amount of them possible. Obviously zones end and have hard walls like mountain ranges or the ocean. But some games take it too far and don't let you venture off the beaten path an inch. Themepark isn't a genre, its an excuse. |

Skill based progression in a modern horror/mystery setting. Definitely has my attention. |

I have more than my fair share of ill will towards Funcom, from the Anarchy Online launch not Age of Conan. Doesn't matter, I'll be buying this game ... it looks too interesting to pass up. |

It's less instanced than Aoc
A good comparison instancing Wise would be warhammer |

Originally posted by smh_alot I have seen the start areas from the TSW beta and although there are instances, it's much less noticeable than in AoC. Houses, churches, shops, and inns aren't separate instances and the design is such that you generally don't have to change instance more than maybe every 10++ hours of play. |

I'll definitely play TSW allthough I preffer open beta check first, only to see how finished and polished the game is. If it's another rushmonkey launch I'll spare myself the frustrations I had in first few months of AoC and wait 3-6 months. We'll see. Also, I don't care if TSW launch overlaps with GW2 I'm planning to play both games anyway and probably pass on Tera. I care about your gaming 'problems' and teenage anxieties, just not today. |
