Well it was obvious already in beta that there would be overpowered builds for both PVE and PVP. All it took to work it out was a spreadsheet and a basic understanding of game mechanics in TSW.

I had told people here that there were levels in the game (there are), and that the notion that people wouldn't follow cookie-cutter "best" builds was fantasist, that there were obvious best builds that everyone would end up using - statements which were met with incredulity and some degree of anger.

It turns out, I was right. That's not saying TSW isn't a good game, it's pretty good. But it's not revolutionary, apart from the setting which is a first - and really, that's the whole point.

MMO mechanics are familiar. 7 button hotbar gameplay and dodgy combat mechanics combined with an easy to work out metagame means that people like me already knew what endgame builds would be like, and how they would work.

All MMO games, like FPS, at their core are similar. But TSW does succeed at making things interesting with its setting, factions and lore.

Funcom needs to focus on these, and expand the content, if it hopes to keep players interested and invested. It should stop trying to hype its game mechanics which any MMO player with an analytical mind will see through, and focus on the things that make TSW unique.

Anyway, I'll leave you with a fun little video:

Enjoy

Time for a new rig if the game looks like that to any player playing TSW.

I really could never understand this sentence.

Just curious, what do serious Player vs Players play?

What?   And put themselves out on a limb?  Stating the obvious is one thing,.

as far as PvP that is 'better' than TSW goes,.

In my experience, EveOnline stands out but it is a highly niche game.  I hear good words hearkening back to DaoC too.

Other than that,..DarkFall?  Fallen Earth?  Can any PvPers out there give a personal opinion on what is a positive, rather than a blanket negative on whatever game , TSW in this example, is under discussion?

I admitted no such thing, stop putting words in my mouth because you have no clue how the game works.

What I stated explicitly is that I have completed every nightmare more dungeon and have QL10.4 gear. Nothing in the game gives me trouble. For the record I have also completed every quest in Trans and routinely solo farm elite vampires in the cave ruins by the dozen.

Enjoy your pistols/fist build or whatever "fun" way you're hilariously stumbling your way through content.

Uhm... If I understand what you are asking then, I'd say TSW has a very good PVP system for a player mainly interested in PVE activities in game.  It's an alright one off from questing ever so often when you want to score some gear while not being a competitive areana for the wannabe L337.  This is a positive for some and negative for others depending on what you want out of your games.

In my opinion though, we live in a time where you are better off going and playing a good MOBA like League of Legends for PVP or a good single player RPG like Fallout New Vegas for interactive story anyway. This  leaves the current crop of MMORPGs with the difficult question of answering who they want to satisfy when they can't cater to any niche well enough to compete with a vast number of other options for the dollar.

For the record I PVP, PVE, and RP in MMORPGs. So don't try to label me in any us vs them arguments as just a PVPer. K? LOL. O.O

Cleanup + all group members present, makes mincemeat out of builds like this. I specifically made a purge build to take down healers, as it so happens it takes these guys out too. Not sharing my build, don't ask. Figure it out for yourself. I can say it's shotgun/ele, no blaze, or thor's hammer on my actives bar.

There are counters for everything on the wheel (barring exploits), it's up to you to find them.

He who fights and runs away... misses out on the loot

I think that you think too highly of yourself.  I have no idea what you have said in the past.  Also, people make 1001l predictions about every aspect of a game.  Some are bound to stick.  Grtz.  Also, this one was a bit of a no brainer.  There is always better builds, than others for different aspects of gameplay.

They are coming for you!
