Vladimir recently posted some pictures he took during a trip to NYC on the official forums, which show some of the real life areas used in the Illuminati starting area.  These are pretty cool.

I agree, it's a really nice set of pictures.

Strbldsnch compiled a bunch of side-by-side comparison pictures from the ones Vladimir took, which are easier to see:

Using the real world as the gameworld does make this game more interesting to me.

That's pretty epic.  One of the many cool things about a game taking place in current time.

Wow, some of those you need to do a double take to see which is the real one :)

Same here.  I was looking at the pictures and comparing them to in-game places from memory, but the side by side comparisons were pretty astonishing.

Wow this is awesome.

I live nearby, and may end up spraying fun symbols / hands / eyes / agartha notes around this stuff:)

Very cool. My girlfriend grew up in New York and was commenting on the attention to detail they put into it. I wonder how the London locals compare to the New York ones.

In case you missed the other link in the posted thread, be sure to check out the actual Kingsmouth as well.

I thought that entire website was made as part of the advertising campaign for the game.

Yes used as an information source for the quest as well I believe. Some of the pics in the galery are actually from In-game. Though the light-tower seems real though.

Very cool, but it won't help Funcom retain players, such is the nature of themeparks. It's a losing battle trying to pump out more content than players can consume before the next round of content comes.

As mentioned above, the site you are linking to is actually made by Funcom. They did it so they have a place with information that doesn't change, so they can use it for their in-game investigation missions. ;)
