Niche games will never be GOTY. Secret World, Fallen Earth, Tabula Rasa, Auto Assault - all these games are niche, they only bring in people who like very specific game setting. SW is quite a niche game. Also considering the fact that SW game mechanics focused on grind as in many other MMOs this game will never be GOTY. I am happy for you that you are so excited about SW. But under the pretty skin there is nothing else but grind and more grind. I love SW and I also hate it. I love it for great visuals and great places that resemble modern world and I hate it for so many times already played i other MMOs game mechanics. I hate grind and there is so much of it in MMO. I guess you can say - well thats MMO what you expect. And I will agree with you. |

Are you serious? How far did you play? The game nature is about grind. You will have to grind points to get access to additional abilities. Maybe you dont know what grind is. If you do same type of thing over and over again thats called grind. Why do you think every quest in SW is repeatable? |

Originally posted by reanor I've played MUCH farther than you. You don't grind for abilities. You do missions and that gives you significant XP, that you gain more AP and SP from. Not all quests are repeatable. The repeateable quests are in there if you want to revisit areas later on with a different weapon set, if you so choose. You're not required to do the repeatables to advance to the next area however.

Hasn't anyone told you not to drink rubbing alcohol? I make spreadsheets at work - I don't want to make them for the games I play. |

Originally posted by FredomSekerZ I'm going to hate doing this, but I do agree with reanor here. grind is the biggest element in every MMO...the successful MMO's know how to hide it better than others. That's why FTP games stink, cuz the grind is right in your face. That's what TSW is awesome...because I never even notice the grind....but progression = grind. that's just a fact. I don't agree with reanor on any of his other comments though. |

Originally posted by chaod1984 This is correct, you don't even notice the grind, every now and then you open your ability sheet and say "holy crap look at all the points I can spend". Then you go back to doing whatever you want to do, missions, pvp, dungeons, etc. You can roll dungeons for a month and never use the same build more then once. |

Guild Wars 2 already bought that award, I mean.... Frankly, I don't there is a game deserving of MMO or game of the year. It is just more of the same, year in and year out in mmoland. |

Originally posted by bcbully Well seeing that Max Payne 3 is the lonely shining star in the black hole filled sky of 2012 PC games released this calander year....TSW and GW2 both have a shot at getting more than just RPG GOTY. But, if the upcoming releases meet their hype, then I'd say neither will (remember as well, PS4 comes out in December, so there are devs that will be trying damn hard to make a stellar next-gen release for it). Going by this information, we could see Crysis 3 hit Crysis greatness again, which would give it GOTY for sure, this can be said for Far Cry 3 (they also had a subpar 2nd game in the series, so they might get it right). Also, Sleeping Dogs looks like it might be a sleeper GOTY. (There are also other that i am missing).
As for RPG (MMORPG) of the year, I think GW2 would edge out TSW between the two, just because of how much polish and detail is involved in it (both have great great qualities). But they are also competing against FIrefall, Neverwinter, Bioshock Infinite, and any of the single player RPGs that came out this year (really, I can't remember 1 that really stands out to me this calander year, but I might be forgetting one).
EDIT: Not saying Max Payne 3 was that great, just saying it is the best PC game released this year, imo. Also--this isnt including indie games that dont usually make it to the GOTY pack (even with PC Gamer who has added a GOTY category for them). I am not surprised by this year sucking thusfar either, because of how strong the end of the year was last year |

I am not interested in TSW just because of the fact that I am a PvPer and usually that's how I like to spend my game time. But I really want this game to succeed. Why? Because Funcom has some good ideas and ambitions, I'd like to see what else they can come up with down the road. Originally posted by salsa41 |

Originally posted by dellirious13 Dark souls PC version ;p, skyrim expac maybe, GW2 like you mentioned, whatever call of duty comes out, diablo 3, warcraft expansion, darkstryders 2, witcher 2 looks to be positioned well, Hitman, HALO 4!!!, Resident evil 6 and far cry if they return to what made them good. The two games I am waiting for release september but no way GOTY for them, more players than TSW but get advertised less. So maybe 1 million copies sold each. Secret world has to many gameplay issues, if it launched a year from now with a much much better combat system and animations that look realistic, added another 8 zones, added raids, fixed the merry go around PvP system and somehow balanced factions so templars don't wait 4 hours to PvP while dragons zone in outnumbered 20 to 1, overhaul the crafting system to have crafting help base the in game economy, Fix broken quests, there are way to many filler quests such as kill 10 mobs, make currency worth something, revamp the PvE animations, fighting a boss is boring when there are few tells and junk all over the screen. Fix broken quests. That would be a start, to get GOTY of the games I listed would take much more innovation. |

O.O http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ns-IIn-DG-c Try to argue this please. Oh also if you quote me and it's to argue my point, if I don't respond it means I haven't been corrected by you and/or I haven't seen it. Remember I don't mind admitting I am in the wrong. Take care :D |
