I really haven't had such a hard time to make up my mind about TSW. It surely isn't bad, and it has it's appeal, but it definitely isn't really good either.

I am kinda bored these days, so I was hoping I would buy TSW for sure, but now... My number one gripe, even after playing a bit longer and going into the new zone remains combat. For real action combat it is just too lame. Sorry. I know good action combat, but THIS isn't one. But it isn't real classic combat either. AoC melee was good action combat for a MMO. I recall how much fun I had swinging my axes with my Barbarian. But this isn't action fun. It's more like work or sports or what than fun. The combat just feels dull and strenous.

And on top, I never feel like a hero, more like a zero. Fighting mobs is a chore. I can't describe it otherwise. And it's not a cool challange, its simply a tiresome chore. I just don't feel entertained fighting.

Also, this huge wheel of skills... it just overwhelms me. Having so many choices means, so many choices to royally fuck up. And the game demands that I adapt to their ideas, not the game adapts to my wishes. See, if I play a Barbarian or Thief or Ranger or whatever, I have an idea who I am and what *my* way of doing things is. Sure, if you take the roles of WOW skill tree or the "souls" from Rift, it is good to have variation to chose from. But here, I feel I must adapt too much. I don't really have this fixed combat profile which allows me to manage, I have 500 skills and now "good luck not making a fucked up mix". Especially the passive really make or break a built, and I am not sure I want to spent so much time in constant planning and adapting. I understand some people love just that, but for me, no... I would want a mroe defined path in terms of classes and combat.

I really felt hugely letdown to see all three factions had the same zones apparently. So it is always Kingsmouth. That really is a letdown, since even Rift had two area for their factions, like many other MMOs. Here, the replay value is sort of zilch. Seen it once, seen it all. I sorta have the feeling people will have seen the entire content pretty quick.

I understand the game might have appeal to people who seek just that, which is fine with me. But I just do not see myself playing this. Especially the combat is too demanding. Too much planning needed, too much circling and hopping and evading. I just simply didn't feel heroic enough and too weak. I felt like doing some chores or work rather than relaxing with a game, in this combat. The setting and stories are pretty cool, but overall I did not feel like playing a MMO either. More like SWTOR a huge single player game with online feature.

Thanks for teh impressions Elikal. BTW, no video :( I love your voice.

Anyway, i'm sorry that you didn't like the ability wheel. To you, being more complex is a minus and well has this not being an alt game. I can understand that for many others has too, but that simply means it's not the game for you (trust, i hate having to say this, but it's true).

I mylsef love not having to run an alt to see the whole content and like the complexity. Regarding the whole SP thing, wheel, to me, being social in an mmo is all about talking and opening up to other players. I can get what you mean by it, i really do, but personally, the huge rp possiblities that FC seems to be pushing for TSW is actually what excites me about the community. I can only hope it's good and friendly.

Again, thansk for the impressions.

Heh, thanks, but... I just don't have enough to say. I am pretty unsure atm. I just felt terribly weak in combat, and partly I blame my own inability (and unwillingness) to really study the ability wheel en detail. Is that good or bad? I dunno, I guess it depends on the person playing. So nothing really to say. I guess I would feel better if somehow my char was just stronger in combat, and mobs were dead a bit quicker, teh. ;)
