Animations were placeholders. In this vid you can see that they added more caster animations, instead of the 'hand clapping' for all spells they had before, which looks a lot better in my opinion:

I don't know... I'm looking forward to the game, and those animations still looked pretty uninspired to me.

Seems a bit odd that a game with no body type or racial variety has the least developed animations, thinking back to WoW at launch with Tauren, forsaken, gnome, throll, human, dwarf...

Don't measure a game by it's setting/location. It's the stories that make a world and the gameplay that makes a game.

Keeping my hopes in check for this, but I admit the modern setting is what has me interested. Less traditional combat + less traditional setting almost guarantees I'll at least enjoy my time in the beta. Will it be enjoyable enough buy? That I dunno, yet.

While I appreciate the OP's sentiment, I'd like to point out that you CAN still wear tights and that according to TSW "everything is true" - that includes elves and trolls.  Especially trolls.

They'll never run out of trolls... they just need to cast a net on any forum and they'll find plenty of them.. :)

Unfortunately for TSW fans you get an earlier release than the game should have had and are going to get an unfinished and inferior product that will leave the fudgecom fanbois crying as loud as swtor fanbois if not worse..

Its funcom combined with EA so it is gauranteed to be incomplete and shallow at mid game and beyond..

I know exactly what i am getting with GW2 and it doesnt require a monthly fee to boot and neither will the secret world when it goes f2p sometime in 2014..

 

 

If it tanks then it tanks. Sad but what you gonna do? But I'm still not interested in GW2 and I'd rather stop playing MMOs for a couple of years than touch that one. But I don't go to GW2 forums to say that and that's why I said that GW2 fanbois are the worst ever seen. Just cannot understnd why they are polluting every other MMO forum. If TSW fails then I think that's a good time to take a break until World of Darkness and enjoy the whining that starts after GW2 launch. Oh, and I honestly don't care about a few euros for sub.

knowing the premise behind the game I would say nothing in this game will save you, it would much rather pull you into an alley and eat your body before decay sets in....if you aren't raise as undead immediately that is

For me it's not so much about not having elves/dwarves etc. in TSW that draws me in. Although it is a another part that is a fresh spin on the genre. It's all about having to think past just the builds and clicking 1-5 ( or w/e). It's definately not going to be something for everyone. The chance of getting stuck on some puzzel or having to do some research to gather information might be a slight turn off.

I've been waiting for the title for while and immeadiately was drawn to the setting of the world. Everything is real is just a great concept to use in a modern world mmo. I'm not going to lean too far in favor for TSW but I'll be taking that into my experience.

Finally a chance to get hands on wtih the game.

There will probably be tights in the cosmetic item shop and there are already trolls on the forums, though at least the lack of a global chat channel will slightly blunt the damage they can do ingame.
