I'm another of the leaders/admins for Gayme Øn. We are recruiting for all THREE factions. We want our community to be a fun place to hang out and be social. We also are have a dynamic political metagame called the Council of Venice, which forms our basic in-game political structure.

The in-game political structure, from highest to lowest:

• High Councillor - Appointed by the Council of Venice, since the Council of Venice spans all three factions, there is only one High Councillor within the game. The HC decides which faction is the dominant one. This will be reflected on the website.
• Councillor - elected by the Members every month. There is one Councillor for every ten active members in the Councillor's faction, rounded up.
• Venetian Agent - Upon taking office, each councilor appoints two Venetian Agents to assist him/her with enforcing Council policies. Usually this is member invites and keeping the peace.
• Member - Everyone in the guild starts in this position. To vote in a Council election, member needs to be active on the website within the past 30 days and have joined the website no less than 2 weeks from the election day.

Making a guild that is based upon a certain aspect of a person is fine as long as you're tolerant and acceptant of other people. Otherwise, you're just as bad as a guild that says "No Gays Allowed."

I feel it's an accurate complaint. You could've easily expressed yourself by saying what //\\//\\oo said, but instead you jumped on a soapbox and used it as an excuse to crusade against 'discrimination'.

The reason why SOME of these groups are created is because of general discrimination in the first place. There are some people that use it as a stage for discrimination or 'war' against other groups (e.g. NAACP), but having a gay 'friendly' group shouldn't be a problem. It's the same as me making a "Fans of Duck Tales" guild, so I can hang out with like minded people.

When I form a guild I exclude lots of people, racists, idiots, Justin Bieber fans, people who say "click" instead of "clique" or do not pronounce it cleek like it should be, people who do not like my disgusting yet highly inventive form of swearing etc. It's my guild and I reserve the right to decide membership. If people want a LBGT guild, good on them, anyone who wants to deny them that that go and join the moron guild and make endless Chuck Norris jokes, I hope the gay guild give them a damn fine beating in PvP, their tears will shine on their screwed up little faces.

Wait, I think my last guild in L2 included all those folks you kicked out....no wonder I didn't stick around very long.

Though they did have the inventive swearing requirement down pretty well, but that's most guilds these days it seems.

You know, any other guild annoucement would get almost no commentary outside of the folks who were really interested in joining them, (though sometimes people enjoy flaming self professed, hard core PVP guild recruiting posts) but this one of course had to become a social commentary.

Face it, we join groups that promote certain agenda's because we agree with them.  There are several guilds out there who target "older gamers" (though they use silly ages like 25 and up and call that old, ha)

But to the point, there are guilds for hard core PVPers, casuals, raiders, French speaking only etc and they aren't created for the purposes of hating or excluding others, its just more fun to hang out with folks with common interests and agenda's.

Same thing here, this guild exists so like minded folks can get together in comfort and enjoy the game together, no need for pseudo outrage here about their so-called exclusionary nature.

To me a Guild is about getting like minded individuals together to game with, chat with, ect.

It only makes sense for a LBGT guild to form and recruit other LBGT people. I am fairly sure they would not exclude anyone who is not LBGT just on that fact alone.  With so many homophobics, racists and general retarded people nowdays who can blame them for being somewhat exclusive?

Good for you guys I say. I have gamed with many LBGT folks over the years and would happily do so again. For the most part they have been to most mature, laid back and drama free people I have ever gamed with.

And honestly I cant blame them for saying a big "F**k You " if you dont like it.

Maybe that's your problem, you're seeing it as an 'agenda' instead of stuff to talk about during downtime, or in their forums, or whatever. They're not forming this guild to promote gay buttsechs to everyone in game or anything, they're just people that want to hang out with like minded people, that's the point.

 

Maybe you've never been in a guild before, but a lot of the conversations that go on in guild forums, guild chat, and VoIP have nothing to do with the game. Guilds who's only commonality is that they play the same game won't last long.

A complicated issue. Like others have said, guilds tend to be formed to find other like minded people. Unfortunately there are a lot on intolerant people out there that dont want gays in their guild, or will make fun of them. Having a guild of other like minded LGBT people means that they can enjoy the game without being harrassed. Everyone is entitled to this.

I don't get people and how they seem to accept the GLAAD community. If they allow everyone in that is perfectly fine, if they want to go out and make sure people know that it is a gay and lesbian friendly community then more power to them.

There was rage when Grand Theft Auto introduced a Black main character. LGBT content will recieve some of the same thrashing for a while, but in time will learned to be accepted. Hopefully..
