Vanilla Gate is a 3D fantasy with very cute, bright anime-inspired graphics. The story involes the player landing on the planet Vanilla by accident and trying to find a portal back home. There's the expected quests, hunting for experience, and party system.

Combat tries to be a mix of skill-based with some shooter mechanics. A few unique elements pop up, however. There is an "educational mode" with word minigames and Chinese characters that can be used as attacks if a player learns to recognize them. There's even a player-created quiz option. Six PvP modes, including Capture the Flag and King of the Hill round out the game. The game is free to play with an optional item shop.
