Horrid animations, even worse sound (the ugliest sound I have ever heard on a P2P game), macroers everywhere, silly ganking, very terrible community, even worst than Heroes of Newerth community, however I loved the idea of the game, could be really great game but they could not carry such a big project with a good and polished overall, what a pity, really.

It seems I always come back to this game. Not many games can compare to the thrill and excitment of the PvP.

Darkfall= one long boring grind in a not very good game in order to pvp.
The usual excuse for why this game has a low population is that the death penalty is too harsh, rubbish just make sure you have enough gold/mats for too sets of gear, one for you one for bank, done. Took around 5 or 6 hrs of playing to get enough gold for 2 sets of starter gear not sure how it is with full lvl gear but low lvl the penalty seems as pointless as not having it only a lot more annoying. Get ganked lose your gear, get disconnected(happens frequently) lose your gear, weapon has decided it's not in your pack today lose your gear. You die you lose your gear, no real thought or effort gone into desinging and implementiing a good full loot system. I got the distinct feeling that the devs just hadn't bothered. They copied what the remembered from the original ultima online and couldn't be bothered with any more. Great for some old uo players, but it means that what the copied is now over a decade out of date. Inventory, bank etc is just a small window you jumble all your crap into. UI is awkward to be polite. And so on.
Even the usual quests of go kill 10, 20 of those or gather 10, 20 of that that to give you something to do other than grind aren't really there. Instead you get quests of go kill three hundred(300) odd of those and go collect three hundred odd of that.
Not to mention the various bugs still there after 2 years, server disconnects(frequent), dodgy controls hell things kept disappearing from my inventory only to show up again the next day.
If they had put a decent amount of thought and effort into the gameplay and fixing its issues darkfall would be a good game. Rather than a a big designed world with gameplay that's over a decade out of date fan project.
Ultimately just not worth the money they charge

Tried to start this in 2011, but there would be NO chance for me to ever catch up to players that played for two years and thus my char would always be inferior to theirs. The game is original and could have been amazing, but the execution was very poor and GMs don't seem to care about widespread macro cheating and other things that ruined this game.
I'm going to avoid this simply because it will cause a lot more stress and grief than joy and with the low population that they have now, I don't see how DF will ever bounce back to being a good mmo.
One last thing that pretty much made me uninstall this game and forget about my account is the connection problem and constant disconnects, sometimes every 10 minutes.
The least they could do is fix their server...

The areas I marked down were roleplay (there is not enough real sandbox in this game to make it good for RP)
Performance / Lag.. Load lag, and the game engien being processor intensive are the reason I gave a lower score.

My first full loot/sandbox MMO after playing most MMo's for over a decade.
Full loot PvP for those of you that haven't tried one adds an element of realism and intensity that most others lack. I really liked the thrill of that feature.
But with this game I have to add to the chorus. the week that I played if within a guild was about repetitive skill raising. Swimming, running, casting in place for hours, days more to raise a skill to get better for "PvP". It's a considerable amount of work for the rewards to be gained.
Skill grind grind grind. some players had been doing it for months.
Quests do you rewards you XP as it doesn't exist. they are mostly a guided backdrop to raise skills and get some gear.
Also guilds can declare war on other guilds so that the protections in at least the cities are null and void. War can be declared and put into place without consent. So basically: Eve Online with real characters in a real world. The huge world, level of detail, realism and brutal edge were good but sadly, not for me. Too much work for not enough reward.

This game is the only game that can keep my interest besides Xyson another good sandbox set in post apocalypse in the works. If your tired of themepark games and love awesome PVP action with ultimate risk vs rewards, no levels and great skill based like from games like Ultima Online than this is your game.
