The folks at Darkfall have posted an update on their policies on third party programs and macroing.
This is mostly an information update on topics that the community may find useful. There will be more of these types of updates on a regular basis. Since we haven’t had one in a while, this one is quite long.
Policies
There seems to be some confusion about what’s allowed and what’s not in game. When in doubt, the EULA and the Terms of Service are displayed every single time you start the game. The general rule is that any third party program that interfaces with the game or gives a player an unfair advantage is prohibited in Darkfall. The only types of programs allowed are chat communication programs and screenshot-video capture programs.

Just ban everyone in Awful Company clan and be done with it.
Goons already ruined Eve.
DIDny Tasos in one of his rants recently claim that there was no Hacking or Cheating problem? I seem to recall reading something from him to that effect. lawl
He commented that they had identified all the 3rd party (non-macro) cheaters at that time and had banned 90% of them. I still think that's bunk, since the developer of the main cheat program boasts 600 members (only 213 total players were banned).
This announcement says that there have been additional bans, but not as many, but that they're also taking a harder line against macroing and even using the in-game autorun feature unattended (I've been in two starter cities in the last week and they both had a handful of players standing swimming/running into walls). They're also taking a stance against geometry exploits, which is good, since they're pretty common.
I think this is a fantastic announcemnt from Aventurine, but with a caveat. It's great that they're taking a hard approach in regards to cheaters, but it's even more important that they tighten up their code and design in order to make this type of cheating irrelevant. Geometry exploits? Fix the geometry! Macroing to skill up? Take another pass at the skill leveling system!

Well said, Rhinok!
I'll have to admit that that was the best posting by Tasos I have seen. Plenty of information, with little spin. Makes me wonder if it was actually him that wrote it.
Now, I said little, not no spin.
Anywho...
Personally i supported this game for a long time, but have to say i am glad i did not waste my money playing this. IMO there is to little action to prevent the cheating in this game and I will not be bothering to play this product and i have already added it to my FAIL list.
To much reteric and too little action, after watching that video on u-tube with that ship being hacked was the last straw for me, I will not be buying this game if that's what you can call it.
Bandit.
There is really not alot they can do to prevent cheating, short of a complete re-write of the server/client. And in something besides JABA.
Well, that, or implement a PunkBuster/Warden type program. Which, as per the ToS/EULA, they can do. Unless that wording has been recently removed.
Personally, I don't see either of these things happening. But that's just me.
Edit: pelling
They put a good face on it, but the sad part is they have no means to enforce these rules at the moment. At least they admit they have a problem, let us hope that they have some solutions coming down the pike.
From the updated cheating policy- "This means that when we detect players inside the terrain, rocks, trees, buildings, walls, towers etc. we will be taking action against them."
Are you frakking kidding me that players are this desparate and rediculous that they have to go to such lengths to try to gank other players? Not to mention all the rediculous naked pvp I hear about because players are so worried about losing gear. If they are so "uber" why worry?
I thought Tosspots stance was essentially "there is no cheating". It's all a bit <yawn> seems everyone is happily playing or moved on.
"ruined"? i would have said they're part of what makes eve the game it is today. what would EVE be without the whole BoB/goons drama? just because they're asshats almost down to a man doesn't make them bad for the game.
